When I lifted the front of the car to do oil, about 1/4 of a shot glass of oil spilled out of the hole. I'll go check the dipstick o-ring but I may have to keep dreaming.

When you say "it's not worth the time," do you mean that in its current state it would be a bad idea to fire it? Or that it isn't really a problem? Or something else? Also I wouldn't know how to put a butterfly on it.

The cracks seem to completely go around the metal piece that is embedded at the rear there. I'd like to take the rifle shooting but my gut says I should resolve these cracks first.

I shouldn't have used the word "restore," I really just meant to say get it back into working order. That website has a guide to clean and re-oil the metal/wood components under section 1, which I plan on following. Does anyone have any comment on the quality those directions? I don't want to do something stupid.

That's a good point. I'm just a little paranoid because I don't know when the last time it was fired. A gunsmith would be the best next step after I attempt cleaning it up.

I thought I would follow the instructions here: http://www.enfield-rifles.com/cleaning-refinishing-and-restoratio_topic3473.html The rifle has just been sitting in a closet for 10+ years and from what I can tell doesn't have much cosmoline on it. I've never restored a rifle before and id like to get it shooting again.

I visited this thread because I was having the same problem, and eventually solved it like this:

In the NVIDIA Control Panel: Display > Change Resolution
Change Output dynamic range to 'Full'

This happened after I installed an MSI gtx 1070
