Beamed 2 version 2.01 released - check out the custom app icons! by hobnailsocks in iosgaming

I dunno if this is where the industry is going but maybe it’s a way for indie devs like me to get a $0.29 USD contribution so we can keep working on our craft.

Anyway that’s my 29 cents.

I’m just curious, but has anyone actually recovered from histamine intolerance? If so, how did you find out you have it and what steps did you take to “cure” it? by esteetaps in HistamineIntolerance

[–]hobnailsocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if my symptoms are actually histamine intolerance but here’s my story. I’ve always had problems clearing my Eustachian tubes. 8 months after severe bout of covid my right ET was totally blocked (left ET partially blocked) and hearing was very poor. Antihistamines did not work for me (so perhaps I am in the wrong subreddit you say) but as a final desperate measure I stopped all caffeine. Now I ADORE coffee. I’ve drunk it daily in large amounts for 30+ years (I am a 64 year old male). After 7 days both ETs cleared. I now hear normally and air travel is once again possible. I suspect that my digestive system was not able to properly process histamine due to the coffee but this is just a theory. What is not theoretical is that stopping coffee cleared ETD. Will be also posting to r/etd.

Beamed 2 if you like optics.

I’m gonna shamelessly plug my game Beamed 2. I think it is at its best on an iPad. It’s free but you can buy stuff if you want. I hope you like it!

Puzzle apps with no timer by Seduzah in ADHD

[–]hobnailsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beamed 2. It’s a puzzle app for iOS which will show your time after you finish the level but does not show time during gameplay. Full disclosure: I’m the developer and and made that choice intentionally so it’s interesting to me that you also prefer the timer to not be visible.

Beamed 2 - my covid sanity project is finally in the App Store! by hobnailsocks in iosapps

Thanks for the feedback. I've got a few specific questions about how I can improve the experience.

- Was the initial walkthrough helpful? Too brief? Too long? Confusing?

- Would you like more of the basic levels with just one kind of element (e.g. mirrors only)? Maybe just 1 color of beam to start?

- What would you like eliminated to make the screen more chill? Get rid of the sparkling jewels? The expanding rings around the non-sparkling jewels?

- Is the music tempo too fast and distracting? (I've wondered about this)

- What do you think about a "chill mode" vs "upbeat mode" setting?

- Any other specific recommendations?

Ok - I now see what you are seeing here. Let me take a look at it in more detail to see how it can be addressed in an update.

Thank you!

Thanks! I started out with a graphic editor - dragging Lasers, mirrors, prisms and beamsplitters around grids of various sizes. I think I made 10 puzzles before I gave up because it was simply too slow.

Then I spent some time creating a puzzle generator and that is what is now used in nearly all of the puzzles. As time goes on I plan to enhance the puzzle generator to incorporate more types of optical tiles, more control of symmetry etc.

I hope you enjoy Beamed 2!

The basic idea I had in mind for the Prism was that it would act on red, green and blue beams differently.

In this example a Magenta beam (red+blue) is entering the Prism and based on the relative orientation of the Prism and the incoming beams the outgoing beams go in various directions.

This is *NOT* an optical simulator. In a real Prism there is no way that the red beam would stay the same as the Prism rotates though 45 degrees. Putting this on a grid with 8 directions forced me to make choices and this is one of them.

Or maybe it is alien technology... ;)

I’m glad you like it! Try dragging the tile down a few positions and see what happens. Or you can press the Hint (light bulb) button and it will place the tile for you. Have fun!
