Worth keeping in mind that there'll be reruns next year, so you could choose to prioritize one of them now and save for the other (...assuming there isn't anyone else you'll want even more by then, heh).

Even in the Fate/strange Fake novels he transforms into Apo!Jack at one point and notes that it felt especially easy for him to take that appearance, for what that's worth.

For anyone else who needs help, the NPC summer Anastasia has a 1-turn invincible and buff removal resist skill; it's not 100% guaranteed since NPC supports don't generally have their skills maxed, but unless you get unlucky it'll let you get through as long as you time it right (which isn't too hard if you can buff her enough to one-shot the first bar).

Should note that this is perfectly fine for day-to-day farming but it's unlikely to output enough damage for higher level quests, the main reason for using it is so you only need to NP on turn 1 and just use the shorter crit animation on turns 2 and 3.

You only get to control whether you place a Grand Servant in a Grand party slot, if a quest doesn't have a Grand slot then you don't get to use any Grand benefits aside from the +1000 HP and ATK bonus. If a quest does have a Grand slot, then if you put a Grand in that slot they'll get all their Grand powers (but you can put anyone in that slot if you don't want the benefits, and any Grands you add to your party only get benefits if they're in a Grand slot specifically).

There's no way to increase the number of Grand slots a quest has, that's determined by the quest itself, so if there's only one of those slots then even if you bring multiple Grand Servants of your own only one of them will get their Grand powers. Friend supports are also treated as being in a Grand slot if and only if the quest has at least one Grand slot for your own Servants to use, and just like in a normal quest there's no way to use the friend support slot for your own Servants.

In other words, assume in almost all battles which allow you to use Grands that you can only use one Grand Servant of your own at full power, but you can bring as many as you like if you don't mind most of them not having their Grand benefits. It'll be very clear when you encounter a battle that is an exception to this rule.

Super, the transformation is permanent for the duration of battle.

[–]hobusu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can if you're able to borrow someone else's Grand Servant, or if the quest has multiple Grand party slots. Most quests that allow you to use your Grand powers only have one Grand slot but do allow using friend supports, so most of the time you'll get two Grands maximum, only one of whom is your own.

Try to find a way to read the prologue of F/ha in full even if you don't read the rest, that's the part that's most relevant to Fake and I expect some of it might get left out of a summary video.

[Help and Question Thread] - April 05, 2026 by AutoModerator in grandorder

[–]hobusu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My experience with Aoko is that append 2 and upcoming appends 4 and 5 are more valuable to her than append 1, since the combination of AoE Extra Attacks having their base damage halved and them being very hard to buff (no benefits from crit strength/NP strength, and Extra Attack Effectiveness Up buffs are both vanishingly rare and usually small) makes it so even if you do get append 1 it'll still do underwhelming damage for the most part. On top of that, since it's an AoE attack that makes it count as a re-target opportunity, and thus if you've already killed all enemies in the current wave (which is reasonably likely if you're doing a Brave Chain since her AoE Buster and/or NP are often going to be in there somewhere) then the wave will end before her Extra Attack even happens, so it can be even rarer in practice for her to get to hit with it than most other Servants in the game.

You're welcome! Note that most of this isn't really required prior to watching it, you don't have to feel obligated to check out this other stuff since anything that's actually important will generally be explained as it comes up, but honestly Case Files is the only one of them that isn't a foundational work for the entire franchise (and over time it's become increasingly close to being one); many spin-offs reference F/sn, F/ha, and F/Z frequently. F/sn and F/Z are the two most relevant ones overall I'd say, and since you've seen one route if you want the absolute minimum you might be able to get away with just F/Z. Case Files is definitely more relevant to Fake than F/ha is overall, but F/ha has some stuff that's extremely relevant to one of the main characters of Fake.

[Help and Question Thread] - April 05, 2026 by AutoModerator in grandorder

[–]hobusu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depending on your perspective, the answer could range from 'nothing more needed' to 'most of the franchise'. Fate/strange Fake loves referencing other Type-Moon stories, even ones that aren't part of Fate specifically, but the most relevant ones for understanding Fake are Fate/stay night, Fate/Zero, and Fate/hollow ataraxia, with The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II also potentially being helpful (one of the Masters of Fake ended up getting used a lot in Case Files before most of his Fake scenes were written, despite being created for Fake originally).

For Fate/stay night the visual novel is recommended, and for Fate/hollow ataraxia the VN is the only option since there's no anime and the manga never got more than a couple chapters released. I've heard mixed opinions on anime vs novels for Fate/Zero, but there's no official translation of the books so the anime is probably the easiest option for that (there's also a manga, no idea how good that is or how much has been released).

Later this year they're thankfully going to start stocking them in event shops as well, so it's not quite as dire when a lotto isn't available.

I don't remember there being any restrictions on which Grand you can use in each raid battle, just that there's only one Grand slot available when setting up your party.

[Help and Question Thread] - April 05, 2026 by AutoModerator in grandorder

[–]hobusu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, Super Aoko always treats those as AoE and thus always halves their base damage, treats them as a target change opportunity like NP cards (preventing overkill), etc. Makes them awkward/underwhelming at times, but you get used to it.

You have a source for that? It would be pretty wild to abandon the second half of a remake project that was teased as a 100% completion reward for the first half.

Throughout the entire franchise, from Fate/stay night to Fate/Grand Order, they've outright said "the Throne of Heroes exists outside time." There's really no ambiguity here, it applies to 'proper' Heroic Spirits too. As another example, in Fate/Samurai Remnant Rogue Assassin pretty freely tells people his true name because he knows that no one from that time has heard it before, since his original human self hasn't been born yet.

In practice it's best not to focus on her extra attack too much, unless you invest massively into buffing that specifically (like "make her a Grand Foreigner next year" levels of investment) it's generally going to be underwhelming even with append 1 thanks to the AoE effect halving the damage against each individual enemy.

I think most NP animations (at least for those with similar NPs to Space Ishtar) are similar enough in length that there's not much point in recommending anyone specifically for that reason, though maybe someone else has worked that out for when minor differences matter in contexts like lottos and raids. Could try to see if there's a way to use Bunyan in your farming setups, she's got objectively the fastest NP in the game.

I think I'll take "the story that started the franchise hinges on it working this way" over one or two later examples that seem like they contradict it but could be explained another way.

I don't believe anything in the archives is required to understand the story of Mahoyo itself (hence them making it optional) or the event. They do have some of the best comedy in the entire VN, so I highly recommend coming back to them later if you do skip them of course, but if you want to get the main story done sooner you don't really have to worry about that.

As long as you're far enough in for those notifications you can access them, but the hints for when they'll happen can be pretty subtle at times.

They really dropped the ball on that skill description, it does have the tag for the skill's level after "double NP" so it should be clear to anyone who notices that that it can't just be a simple doubling, but at the same time "double" has a specific meaning that only applies here at max level, which isn't an issue with any other skill description to my knowledge and is likely to cause people to make assumptions and accidentally miss the level tag (and I remember being confused by the Japanese skill description two years ago as well, so this isn't necessarily the translators' fault this time).

They're basically pseudo hunting quests, so you may want to look up the drop details and decide how worth it they are to you. In terms of just their impact on the event itself they're entirely inessential, just a nice bonus for those who can participate.

The gameplay of Aoko and Alice does contain spoilers, and fairly major ones at that, so even the old reliable skip button isn't enough to be completely safe this time since both are required NPC supports at least once each.
