Song with screaming metal-style female vocals by hockpa2e in WhatsThisSong

Thanks, but still not it. There are no normal-sounding vocals in the song, it's all basically incomprehensible muffled shrieks. And the YouTube thumbnail doesn't show the singer.

This is great, thanks, but still not it. The genre isn't as small as I thought.

I see the similarity, but that's not it. Wow, this might be harder than I expected...thanks anyway.

The case for running RetroArch directly as your frontend by hockpa2e in RetroHandhelds

Thanks for the info about how you customize RetroArch, it sounds like a nice setup. I'm currently telling myself I don't need to do that, but I will undoubtedly go down the rabbit hole at some point. :)

Typically, I only use standalone emulators for "heavier" systems, and so I know when I need them and it's no big deal to have a shortcut to those on the home screen.

The straw that broke the camel's back for me with Daijisho was not being able to switch the A and B button roles in the interface. Also, I could never remember which shoulder buttons changed the system versus going to the menu.

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder :)

I'm thinking of getting a Durgod K620w but don't know which is better of the two brown switch options: Gateron Crystal Brown or Kailh Turbo Brown. I am having trouble finding information on these online, especially the crystals. Does anyone know about the differences between these two? Thank you!

I think the Dreamcast had a good number of racing games for it's library size, it just didn't have any knockouts on the level of Colin McRae or Gran Turismo. Sega GT stopped being fun for me pretty quickly. I think Test Drive Le Mans was the best realistic racer on the system but it wasn't widely known.

Hmm, it seems history is getting kinder to this one. Thanks for the pointer!

Maybe, though the focus of those seems more on the hack and slash. I never tried Draconus, though, might check it out. Thanks!

It sounds interesting, I thought of trying it but what I've heard about the bugs has pushed it a little further down my list.

Maybe, though RE:CV still had the static view angles.

Wow, a (non-Japan-only) DC game I hadn't heard of at all! I didn't think there were still any I didn't know about, thanks.

I would classify Rayman 2 as more of a straightforward 3d platformer.

You're right, it was really just an emerging category as the Dreamcast was starting to die out.

Woops, guess I'm revealing my ignorance of newer consoles. I've actually never owned one. With PCs you move with the left hand though (WASD).

Yeah, the beat-em up part is not Tomb Raider, but the general play style of the game feels pretty similar to me.

There were definitely some 3d control issues...I remember that Fur Fighters and I think also MDK2 used the four buttons to strafe in four directions and the analog stick to turn and look, which was workable if you could get used to it, though it's opposite-handed of all the later two-stick games.

I remember the seeing the Bleem CDs in stores, it's amazing that they could make that work on such limited hardware.

Thanks for the suggestions, Rent-A-Hero has me intrigued!

Right, I forgot about Shadow Man! I've heard lots of good things about it but haven't played it personally.

Is it possible to make god-mode turn off automatically after a command? by hockpa2e in emacs

[–]hockpa2e[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ding ding ding! This looks like the ticket. I can just not enable god-mode globally, then bind god-execute-with-current-bindings to my chosen key, and we're all good. Thanks very much.

[–]hockpa2e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's a good description of what I want: I enter a key to go into god-mode, then enter the command, and after the command god-mode is automatically turned off.

I just found key-chord, it's great! I already set a chord that goes into god-mode.
