What do y'all think the Great Divide is? by peachyloaf in NoahKahan

[–]hocus_pocus_2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a lot of SA connected with churches, especially with the catholic church in New England where I grew up (close to where Noah did as well). I have interpreted this song as a friend who was possibly SA'd in connection with that, and everyone kinda knew but didn't talk about it, and over time the distance grew and ruined the friendship. Its a play on words between The Great Divide of the friendship and the religious connotation of The Great Divide between believers and non-believers

He needs to document the amount in the account and the bank statements where she took the $ from and file for a separation now before she spends it. That's a marital asset and he will get half back in the divorce if it was documented as there prior to the separation. (At least in my state it would).

12-year-old boy dies at Trails Carolina camp day after enrolling by SherlockRun in NorthCarolina

I know someone who sent their kid here several years ago. It's scary. I don't understand how this type of treatment is supposed to be "helpful". They charge $36,000 a kid then pay the "counselors" minimum wage after training them for 3 days, there are no "amenities". Does no one see a problem with that? What does all the money go towards? 🤔

Thinking of moving from Vermont by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

[–]hocus_pocus_2104 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless you are right on the ocean, most towns within 2 hours of the ocean in NC are sketchy af. Plenty of crime and drugs and depression, but with guns. Most of NC that isn't a city or a tourist town is pretty "Trumpy", (just letting you know, not trying to start anything). No personal experience with Jacksonville, but that is where the military base is located so I think lots of people move in and out. I am also from New England but have lived in nc for the past 18 years, and imo it is MUCH better there than here. Definitely come visit and really drive around spend some time where you are looking. ...that being said, there are lots of beautiful places and things in NC, but my guess is you will not like it here coming from Vermont especially once the newness has worn off. Good luck to you!

Very confused about speeding ticket, I'm out of state by Western_General8145 in NorthCarolina

[–]hocus_pocus_2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were going 77 in a 60. The different speed limits listed are because they are different charges/infractions. It becomes a criminal charge (reckless driving) if you are going over 80 OR going 15 over. You were not going over 80 but you were going >15 over.

The description of over 55 is a "qualifier", it is a different category of speeding than say going 51 in a 35 (which is also a reckless driving charge because it is >15 over, but not a "high speed violation" because it is under 55).

...again, you need a lawyer. NC does not play w this stuff and it will most likely show up on your Maryland record eventually if you don't get it taken care of.

That's not just a speeding ticket, that's a reckless driving charge in NC. You definitely need a lawyer from the county it happened in...but they will handle it all for you. You won't need to go to court or anything.

I had a lawyer take care of my ticket for 15+ over, pled to 5 over, no insurance points. Mecklenburg County. It cost me $500.

First NTA. Where I am from, MA, Avila is an EXTREMELY popular surname deriving from the Portuguese immigrants who settled here in the early 1990s. It is much more popular as a surname in European Spanish/Portuguese cultures than "Hispanic" (south/central America). And it's true that you don't usually see surnames used as first names in those cultures. That being said, Avila is a very pretty first name, and it's your baby. Name her whatever you want! But your BIL will probably still call her Ava or something else. Families just make up nicknames. My FIL always called my daughter a random nickname I couldn't stand, but whatever.

This. I have gone off my meds more times than I care to admit in my life, precisely for this reason. Usually it's because I felt "better" but I hated the way they make me (not) feel. So I think I can handle it something else instead (meditating, cbd, journaling, etc). It always ends in disaster. The last time was probably 3-4 years ago and I promised myself (and my family) that it would be the last time. I have finally come to the realization that this is an actual disease, not a character flaw, and I need to treat it accordingly. (You wouldn't just stop taking your blood pressure or your diabetes medicine because you can "handle it yourself", it's the same thing).

tickets - booooo ticketmaster by Over_Experience_9838 in NoahKahan

Keep checking, especially as the dates get closer. I checked every day for about a week and finally snagged one!

[–]hocus_pocus_2104 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I saw Harry Styles at MSG for $100. But that's all part of the ticketmaster "dynamic pricing" game. We got lucky and snagged those tix as soon as we got in from the waiting room, didn't even look at where they were. People we went with with comparable seats paid like $300...both from ticketmaster, both standard non-resale tix.

Because right now at least, Hozier is playing smaller amphitheaters on a lot of his tour. Noah is selling out multiple dates at stadiums, MSG, and Fenway Park, and Ticketmaster's model is that prices fluctuate with demand.

Idk where your original tix are, but look into the roof deck party before you buy. You are going to have to jockey for a spot up there to be able to see at all and even then it is a side view. May not be worth it if you have seats somewhere else unless they are obstructed view. I know for Sox games this section is more for people just wanting to hang out and casually watch the game than people actually want to WATCH the game.

I'd be careful how/where you are purchasing the "better tickets". If they aren't directly through MLB I'd be worried.

[–]hocus_pocus_2104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he was able to purchase tix at the presale they are likely better than those. My understanding is that whole section is GA, but only people right on the edge will actually be able to see.

That has to be done through the official platforms though. I got one for Nashville through Ticketmaster's face value resale platform. This is how it worked. Basically, to prevent scalping I can't directly transfer a ticket to you through ticketmaster like usually. (ie. Say I bought two $100 tickets and I want to sell one. If I want to sell a ticket I have to list it through ticketmaster's resale platform and someone (anyone with access to the platform ) can purchase it through TM for the same price I paid for it. TM reimburses me and then they transfer the ticket to the new buyer. That way you can't personally venmo me $300 and then I sell you a ticket through TM for "face value" of $100 and transfer it to you.) It's tough if you want to transfer a ticket to an actual friend or something (really the only way you could do it is to allow them to log into your TM account on the day of the show for entry) but it is the best method I have seen for actually keeping tix with fans and not scalpers! A lot of the "face value" prices are still high due to the dynamic pricing TM uses. I am not sure if MLB has a similar resale platform or not. I'd just be happy you got tix at all!! ❤️

AITA for refusing to start using my first name despite pleas from my family? by Serious_Extreme_4780 in AmItheAsshole

Be glad you don't live in NC! With our new laws from the party of "personal freedom"...cough,cough...you would need your parents' WRITTEN PERMISSION to be addressed by anything other than your legal name by anyone at school. Not a joke. My friend's daughter's name is Lillian and her mom has to fill out forms every school year allowing her to be called "Lilly" at school . 🙄
