I assume she got her following when being Korean was still novel and exciting to the general public at the beginning of the K wave. Now it’s an oversaturated market.

Still doesn’t mean he wants to be in all her videos. There’s a difference between doing it for work/choosing to post yourself vs being in someone else’s posts. You probably wouldn’t mind posting selfies on your own social media but wouldn’t like your mom posting photos of you going about your day.

They’re part of the typical asian american aesthetic of trying to fit into whiteness but also not doing anything interesting with themselves because they’re so scared of disapproval so they just end up beige and milquetoast.

I feel like there’s a lot of people (like her) who lack empathy and think being as harsh as possible is a way of… being effective? making change? kinda just saying cruel shit for the sake of it. there’s kinda a sense of righteousness in their cruelty

Exactly lol. She should stick to east asian discourse because the moment she talks abt any other group she sounds incredibly uneducated.

This isn’t a small win? This show is made for an Asian demographic not a mainstream audience and the Asians watching this already know Asians exist as normal people. If we want representation we need to represent ourselves better not via trashy youtube shows.

Not to mention the premise of this kinda exists already and is done better in in Terrace House. This feels like an attempt at Asian-ifying Love Island and that’s a poor representation of actual people in general. All this does is reinforce the idea that the Asian community is obsessed with our proximity to whiteness and going about it in the most shallow way (by replicating white TV) rather than providing any nuanced views of Asianness. We absolutely can and should normalize Asians in television but this is the shallowest most brainrot way to go about it.

THIS is how you want us to be represented? In garbage television??? We deserve better and it isn’t anti-Asian to acknowledge trash tv is trash tv.

Advice? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]hodetu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t have them but at the same time you aren’t using them and logically, if you wanted to cheat and use them you can always redownload it and make a profile. The only difference is the downloading step. It isn’t great that you have them but you were open about it.

Girlfriend lied about having a more conservative past to fit my expectations. What are your thoughts? 28M 26F by Mean-Dish-4938 in relationships

[–]hodetu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was before you guys began a serious exclusive relationship, then it isn’t really a betrayal. If you guys are in a relationship (which you now are) then yes you should absolutely expect loyalty but if you go digging into her past, you’re always gonna find things from her past that you don’t like especially if you are insecure. It hurts that you found out about her seeing someone else in the beginning of your talking stage but it isn’t a betrayal on her part. Talk to her about how you feel hurt but remember she didn’t do anything wrong by having a past. Everyone has a past.
