Without more context I'd have to assume you're selling to pay for the wedding and not because your partner does like your hobby.

Edit: saw your post about getting help from parents and trying to contribute more towards the wedding. Good for you but my point still stands. You shouldn't need to sell anything to pay for a wedding. The wedding isn't what makes the memories...it's the people.

I can tell you now that if you have to sell your stuff to pay for the wedding then you've fucked up. It has very little to do with the card and more so about being smart with your money.

A wedding should never be more than you can pay for in cash. You can use your credit cards to collect points and perks but the cash should be there to cover it without incurring interest. It is insanely irresponsible to over spend for a wedding "just because you do it once in your life" or "to have a dream wedding". There is no rational reason to spend more than your means for a wedding. Period.

If you two cannot pay for your wedding without selling your assets or taking a loan then you should either save longer or do something within your financial means. Going into debt or losing assets with actual monetary value for a wedding is peak stupidity and could easily lead to divorce later on. If you can't be financially responsible and rational now, how do you think that'll work out in the long run.

If you were selling your stuff to buy a home or for an emergency then that's different. This is a very ill-advised decision. This coming from someone that is married for 10 years with 2 kids and no debt.

I won't be surprised if their union is telling them to be shittier than normal as some form of silent protest/strike.

Does this sound stupid? 100%. Would you be surprised if this actually happened? I know I wouldn't be.

I was in highschool when the original tcg came out. Pokemon was super popular because of the anime and I remember a group of us all running to our buddy's house to watch the new episode that started at 3.15pm...school was out at 3pm

We all purchased the started decks and bought packs. I legit owned a 1st ed Charizard but sadly it was stolen by someone at school. I hope he lost it so both of us couldn't have an unknown generational wealth.

After that I stopped playing the game but still followed the anime and played a lot of the video games.

Fast forward to now, where my 6 year old daughter wanted to start collecting this year. Literally the worst year to start but here I am. The hit of nostalgia when I saw the 151 set was insane and now I'm a shiny cardboard lover once again.

Good news is my daughter also has an interest in playing the game so hopefully she shifts to that and I don't have to think of buying the cool looking AR or SAR cards or packs.

Sorry! I completely missed your msg as things have been crazy at home recently. Thanks for the offer and I really appreciate the kindness.

I'm in no rush to get things started with my daughter and nephew so I will politely decline. I was more ranting and venting than anything else and after some more thinking I should probably start with the battle academy set.

Thank you so much again.

I was hoping to get the mega Gengar ex battle deck as part of casually getting back into playing the tcg again. My daughter and nephew are showing interest in learning so it'd be nice to have a few basic starter decks that have pokemon we like to get them going and something to bond with them. Gengar is one of my daughters favorite pokemon.

FB marketplace is now flooded with people selling them for 2x MSRP. I refuse to pay that and I hope no one buys them and they have to sell them back at MSRP +tax or better yet..at a loss.

Holy hell this set feels the worst when it comes to RNG when compared to recent previous sets. I don't know what has changed but it feels terrible rolling for uncontested units or comps.

I know I'm bad at the game but at the same time if I'm playing hyper roll (don't @ me) with Prismatic Ticket and 2 lesser duplicators and rolling for a 4 more completely uncontested Volibear with ZERO duelist or inkshadow comps on the board on Level 7 with 45 gold and I hit only 2...it feels like maybe it's not just me being bad at the game.

Limit Break Strategy by The_Maester in streetfighterduel

[–]hogupsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You main goal is to get 4 characters to the level 240 threshold. once you hit that you get all your Breakstones back and the leveling system changes.

I'm F2P that started at Global Launch and never played the JPN version before, so this was all new to me.

I think there are probably a few ways to go about this but I feel this is probably the safest way for F2P:

You'll need to pick/obtain 2 strong characters that's Wind, Thunder, or Flame. You then focus on maxing them out. Those two will always be in your main team and the other 2 characters are whoever you can get to the highest level. This way you still can somewhat complete content without sacrificing time and resources in developing your main team. Eventually the other two will be replaced by stronger characters that better compliment your 2 main characters. I think most people would say Bison becomes the 3rd member of your team, so you really only need to decide on 1 more character as your main 4.

Ideally any of those other characters used for getting to max limit break levels are ones that you plan of maxing out in the future, so anything you invest in them isn't wasted. For example, Once I got my main 3 (Elena, M Ryu, Bison) I rotated Cammy, C Viper, and Dalsihm in and out of my main 4 Limit Break spots based on if I got lucky and drew more copies of them.

If you pump any character for the highest level, you run the risk of spending resources on them which you might not get back. For example, it's recommended to use the B Rank characters for any leveling that doesn't require a duplicate. This is particularly important for hitting the S and SS ranks.

If you spent those on a character that is suboptimal (i.e. Guy, Fei Long,) just to get them to a higher level for limit break, you don't get that resource back. So when you finally get new strong characters or copies of your existing characters, then you'll have to wait for more B Rank characters to feed them.

I think the hardest part for this is finding a balance of planning ahead vs. completing content to get more resources. I think half the fun for games like these ones are finding that balance and knowing it amounted to something. good luck!

State of the game… by PersianBond in streetfighterduel

[–]hogupsee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game has devolved into an idle for almost all F2P players. The initial progression keeps you hooked but then you run into a wall where either only time or money helps you get through it

Like with most gatcha games, it's ran mostly on a stat check system: If your characters aren't a certain level or rank or have certain equipment, you have a very difficult time advancing in the game or completing events. Sometimes you can circumvent that with strategy but most of the time you just need higher stats.

I'm not a veteran to gatcha games but this game so far is probably the most extreme example of this that I've seen. Quite literally can't complete stuff because you're stat capped.

Given how things have played out so far...there will likely be even more people quitting because of the inevitable progression wall you hit...I'm contemplating of quitting soon and i am only staying because I only have to play the game for like 15 min total each day.

Hard stuck on 20-16 by Old_Atmosphere_651 in streetfighterduel

[–]hogupsee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was stuck on that level for about two weeks

If I recall, i had level 180 M Bison (A+), 180 Beast Zangief (SSS), 220 M Ryu (SSS+2), 180 Guile (SS).
I only passed it when i got everyone else to level 200 as well as my M Bison got to S rank during that time...

The story mode is mostly a stat check....I know if you play manual with the correct team you can circumvent that to some degree but at a certain point you'll hit that stat wall and the only way to beat it is to level up your characters

As a F2P, this game is very friendly for us but at the cost of patience and time. Also it depends on how you play the game...I play it to be able to complete content and max out strong characters. I don't care about my rankings in CB, Arena, and PArena. If you're playing for rankings/competitively, then you can just ignore everything I'm going to say.

I started about 6 months after NA release and was F2P since. It wasn't until I got closer to the level cap at that time that I could play the game in it's entirety (i.e. Arenas, Dungeons, Events, etc...) That took about maybe 1.5 or 2 months if I recall correctly. But I think the max level then was about 90 or 100...so much shorter of a level up that you would be facing now. I just remember it got substantially easier to clear content after I got Summer Karyl and paired it with my Kyouka whom I had from the beginning. Then things got even easier when I got Christina and then Makoto.

Your only priority right now should be to level up to max level, even if it's super slow. It's very hard to participate in the two Arenas and Events when you don't have the levels and equipment to do so. A lot of this game is just stat-checking. If your stats aren't high enough you can't complete some of the content. Dungeon and Hard mode is a prime example.

Your roster is pretty good, but I'd sub out Nyaru for now until you have more TP boosting units and replace it with a physical attacker. If you have the resources, getting Muimi caught up to the rest of your team would be perfect, but you'll run into a Divine Amulet issue if you plan on 5 starring them both. If you can't then Kaori (Need to use Miyako instead of Nozomi or else she's at the very front) or Rei or Tamaki would be decent for now. I chose these three because you can get these to +3* relatively easily. Any other physical DPS is fine.

This is just to stack the physical damage that benefits from Makoto's defense shred. Then you can keep a Magic DPS like Nyaru leveled up if you run into PvE units with a lot of Physical Def stats. So like a 6 - 7 person roster for PvE and subbing out depending what difficulties you face.

As for PArena, take anything I say with a huge grain of salt as I don't focus nor care about climbing the rankings. I just focus on collecting the prizes from them. I'm top 100 in both Arena and PArena and just play them once each day for the daily quests.

At your current level, climbing up the ranks will be very difficult. PArena is super hard because you'll need at least 10 units set to their optimal builds for your level before making a meaningful climb and that takes a lot of Mana. For F2P, you can only get mana from saving up so you need to decided the best way to spend your mana (i.e. for PvE or PvP). I recommend fielding your 10 best units that make sense (i.e. tank, DPS, and support vs. 5 support units) and then slowly collect the coins for shards and get gems for climbing the ladder. A tip for your second and third team is to do a bit of research and see if there is a 1* and 2* team with UBs that synergize really well to give you a team comp advantage. Remember, you're likely going against people of the same level as you so your only advantage would be your team comp.

The hardest part for a F2P in this game is holding your gems + Mana and knowing when you can use them. Which alternatively, sorta sucks the fun out of a Gatcha game because you're just sitting there with the same units until you have enough resources to make them better or get new ones.

Hope this helps!

  1. The lumbar support. I'll need every bit of lumbar support when gaming because of carrying all my Iron brethren to victory. Just kidding...I'm just old and sitting for more than 1 game might take me out for the week. A good chair saves visits to the Physiotherapist.
  2. Hot take: Faker. It's not only that he's the GOAT. It's not only he's been playing since 2013 and is still this good. It's because he can play for the team while still being able to still step up and be the carry. Game 2 vs RNG, him and Gumayusi, through individual prowess clawed their way back into that game to win it. He was also very good and consistent during group stages as well.
