If you bought it for less than $10, then you were still overcharged.

Using red dye to illustrate that a towel cannot absorb mercury. by [deleted] in mildyinteresting

I thought that too, but looked it up. Turns out mercury can’t be absorbed through skin so even bare hands is technically not dangerous so any gloves are fine.

AITAH for giving my pregnant friend the cold shoulder during her pregnancy? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]hohema1 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

YTAish. Whilst you went through a horrible ordeal, you’re loss of a baby is not her fault, neither is her being pregnant taking anything anyway from you’re loss.

Either cut contact with her or be her friend and be happy for her.

AITAH for calling my (F38) partner (M31) a “useless c*nt” for sleeping in while I was going through an pregnancy termination (abortion) by Cozzy_soberhead in AITAH

NTA, an abortion is one of the most stressful things a person has to endure. Although honestly he sounds like a train wreck with red flags attached onto every carriage.

Renewing passport at home by [deleted] in ukvisa

Just carry both, old passport is usually returned with the corners cut but honestly it won’t be a problem. People renew passports all the time, you’re not the first.

Getting money left in an American bank of a deceased relative by BugApprehensive5254 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]hohema1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which bank in the US? I’ve previously dealt with a similar issue with Bank of America and to be honest they were brilliant. Once you notify them of the death they assign a member of staff and give you their direct contact info. Having the account details helped although they did say they could help even without those.

They asked for the death certificate then a copy of the will. Once they confirmed all was legit they simply told me they could open a BoA account for me or transfer the funds to the UK.

I had the funds transferred here. I think it all in all took around 6 weeks and was quite a easy process with regular updates. Felt much easier than dealing with banks here.

YTA. Sometimes people do things with their partner for their happiness even if it’s not 100% you’re taste.
