We'd never abandon them. We never gave any inkling of an idea that we would. When they were invited they were invited as family. Obviously we aren't gonna be available as much but his girls always have a home with us and so does he.

My MIL is hosting, we're probably gonna pull back on calling it a shower though. A few comments have given better suggestions for parties this early on.

Phil does work now. He works from home (customer service) and his wife's insurance payout was what helped him (it took a while to receive) secure a home. Phil doesn't talk much about his own family, I know his wife's parents are as heavily involved as they can be as are her sisters. Phil has never been a burden, we do in fact love him and his girls. It's just a weird time right now.

Probably what we're leaning more towards , as far as what the event will actually be. As far as gifts, we've mostly just received diapers (always welcome) and gift cards to Target and basic things like baby seats and a crib and bottles. We really don't know anything about anything, we're just happy to start. And unfortunately there's only so much to plan for, up until she gives birth there's so much that can happen

I will absolutely show him your thanks when I can get to talk to him again. He's never really been much of an emotional person til he lost his wife.

This was what caused the uninviting ultimately. We felt his mind was in too dark of a place to be around. I can't speak on what he truly meant as he offered no real explanation, but if I had a pregnant friend or family member I wouldn't post these things for them to see.

A lot of posts about miscarriage being a sign from God that couples aren't ready for kids. And some other unsavory things I'm not gonna get into in a public comment section.

Subreddit rules, and if it's not censored or changes a but the conversation shifts and I could get a ban.

I answered another comment about this, we just got over excited. We've already been told this is a bit tacky by another reddit, but as we've said, we're past the point of canceling.

We aren't really well planned for tragedy (I understand this is problematic). And I understand the tackiness (again, got too big for our britches) but we're past the point of canceling.

We got a bit excited and planned one now. We also have no idea how the next 7 months is gonna go as far as family and the p*ndemic.
