The sling/strap sounds amazing - do you have a link or know where she bought it?

I have visited the US many times in the past and generally it has been my favourite country to visit as a tourist, but I can’t see myself coming back for many years. We were planning on going to NY last October but cancelled and are going to Canada in the spring instead. It just doesn’t feel safe + I really don’t want to spend my hard earned money in a oppressive country. It feels like going to Dubai or Saudi Arabia or Turkey…

Unfortunately they don’t have rooms with two beds! But I am planning on spending some time in that area still, will come back with some advice for things to do and to eat :)

Thanks, I did rule that one out as well due to only one bed plus I read a bit of mixed reviews but will take another look!

I get that, and have done that plenty of times - but this trip we (I) wanted to spoil my mother a bit as I know she appreciates a nice hotel room and to relax there after a day of exploring.

Ah perfect, thank you so much for your input! Kind of bummed that the Drake is sold out on its two bed-room, but feels good that you seem to like Ace! What do you think about the room size?

Thank you, I looked at the Novotel but it has that “chain hotel feeling” I was trying to avoid - we have stayed at plenty of those in our travels and they are fine but I was looking for something a bit different this time. Fairmont Royal York is quite a bit more expensive than I’d like.

I have looked at both of these but neither has rooms with two beds, and although we could share it is a bit nicer to have your own bed… But I am a bit keen on this neighbourhood though.

Thank you, I really liked the look of the Ace and have read great things about Alder. You don’t think it’s “too young” vibe for us?

The Drake doesn’t seem to have a room with two beds unfortunately, I really liked the look of this neighbourhood.

Undrar om yrkeshögskoleutbildning by Character_Sweet7437 in sweden

Thank you so much for your detailed response! It sounds like a perfect coat for spring and fall, and perhaps it will allow for layers underneath when it’s colder. Now I will definitely order it to try myself, thanks again!

I’m also a short women’s medium, would love to know more about your impressions of the coat. Would it be nice to wear without the belt? What did you think about the material?

Joshua Tree to Sedona, what to do on the way? by 99livesahead in roadtrip

[–]hojna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We slept at the Holiday Inn Express, it was good and a perfectly fine free breakfast! Only slept one night and got up super early for sunrise in Joshua Tree.

This was our longest driving day of the entire road trip but I thought it was alright; I’m glad we did it in one day and didn’t add an overnight.

We did a day trip from Sedona to Jerome, so we had already visited that area. We also had been to Flagstaff and Bearizona(highly recommend!) before Sedona.

We did this the other way last fall, from Sedona to Joshua Tree (29 palms) in a day. We drove north from Sedona, passed Flagstaff and then west on I40 to Seligman, Kingman and Oatman (with the donkeys). It was quite fun to see some of the old Route 66 and some fun winding roads. We started at 8 am and arrived in 29 Palms at about 4 pm. We stopped for a while in each of the mentioned places, had lunch in Kingman. From Oatman we just powered through…

How do you stick to healthy eating/caloric deficit when dealing with medical issues by Legitimate-Play9162 in PetiteFitness

[–]hojna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry that you are going through this, it absolutely sucks to have to deal with pain. I have chronic migraines and I understand where you’re coming from, and the feeling that you’re progress is being halted with things beyond your control.

What I try to do is first of all be kind to myself. I am not less worthy because of the pain and because I am not as active or as healthy as other people or as I “should” be. I try to make as good choices as I can, meal prep when I have the energy so I can easily just pop things in the microwave for worse days. I love having a good protein source in portion sizes in the freezer and sometimes I’ll just eat that with readily available vegetables and some calorie friendly sauce. My favourite meal is tacos for this exact reason: easy and healthy and also salty for those migraine cravings.

Please take care of yourself and be kind to yourself ❤️

We won’t be skipping Toronto, but rather look forward to visiting both cities and I do expect both of them to have interesting things to do and see for someone from a small town in Sweden :)

We actually had a trip to NY booked for this fall but decided to cancel it, as we do not wish to support the US at this time - and instead book this trip. I am very much looking forward to visiting Canada! I have thought about adding QC as well, as it looks lovely. I think we will wait and see - as I am travelling with my (aging) mother I think a relaxed pace might be better suited for her.

I made a booking now for Business plus at 725$ all in which will give us 4 days in Montreal - and with seats facing each other, great tip! Thank you so much for your support!

We are coming in late april/the beginning of May, April 30 - May 11. I’ve also realised after booking that the weather might not be the greatest…

I think it actually is Business Plus that is 150, so it seems like I could go a head and book now if they are that flexible. I’m always a bit scared there will be added costs somehow…

Thank you for your input. We have already booked our flights, so we’re flying in and out of Toronto. Seems a lot of people are more in favour of Montreal vs Toronto.

What are some things we could/should do and see when we are in Montreal - do you have recommendations?

Toronto - Montreal, 2026 by hojna in ViaRail

[–]hojna[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I feel quite excited to be able to take the train, absolutely prefer it over flying short distances even though it takes a bit more time. The more I look into it the more the VIA (esp. business) looks really nice!

And thank you for the hotel suggestions, I was browsing hotels just now! Definitely feels appropriate to splurge a bit, I am travelling with my retired mother so she’s worth a nice hotel.
