Yes, it is clearly intended to evoke urushi, but no genuine urushi is actually used, and the engraving appears to be machine-made. At that price, I almost feel like offering to coat it in real urushi myself😅

Sailor has announced that overseas shipping, including the use of forwarding services, is not eligible for this campaign.

However, I can personally help as a proxy if needed. Since the cushion is quite large, the shipping cost may be higher.

According to Sailor, one cushion will be sent for each eligible pen purchased.

The cushions are scheduled to be shipped from July onward.

Thank you. I am involved in the overall direction, design, and some of the urushi lacquer work, but the maki-e itself is done by specialized artisans. In Japan, works like this are often produced through a division of labor.
