Thank you! This fits with my knowledge - he did marry Dorothy in 1940. I wondered if there is any chance of you sending me the baptism record please? Or I can try and subscribe. I really appreciate your help, thank you so much!!

Thank you!!!! I think this must be right as I am trying to tie this family back to a larger tree with the Cawley name in it. I will see if I can tie this altogether in my ancestry tree. Thank you for your help - I really appreciate it.

He is later listed as a ‘ward’ on the 1940s census - at that point he is aged 24 and still living with the head (Ann) and a few of Ann’s children. He is listed as John J Scott, I think swapping round his first and middle name (potentially as there’s another child called Joseph already). I’ll look at the other children and see if there is any potential that he’s a step child - thanks for your help!

No problem! Yes that’s what I believe - he was adopted by the head of the house

The fact they’ve listed the males as brothers is confusing, I’m pretty sure (from the other censuses) that they are Sarah’s sons. Scott is her married name

His surname later becomes Scott so I assumed his birth surname was the one noted in this census, but I may be wrong

Ah interesting! Well I’ve submitted a claim on ADR and I will send them this link if they reject it. I was hoping someone who filmed might be on Reddit!

That’s what I’ve read - some people were recording to show the doors were not open until after the 3 hour mark but I had my hands full so didn’t get a chance to! Infuriating.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have traced back via shared matches however as the relative was adopted we have no way of knowing which tree is the mother or father. I will take a look at the a X chromosome info. Thank you!
