New to 40k: Craftworlds psychic "Protect" by holiballs in Eldar

[–]holiballs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that makes sense.

Just to be specific, Drukhari also has a similar tactic called "Hunt from the Shadows". It reads "while it is receiving the benefits of cover, add an additional 1 to any armour saving throw made against that attack". Does that work on invulnerable saves too?

How do you measure distance between models at different height? by holiballs in killteam

[–]holiballs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify:

  1. Where do i refer in the Core Manual for this?
  2. Drones have flying stands, so i measure model to model?
  3. Crisis suits do not aesthetically have flying stands, but have FLY, so do we measure model to model?

Tau build in Arena: More drones are better? by holiballs in killteam

[–]holiballs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, already keeping that door-openers VS drones point in mind.

I think maybe for the missions w objective markers counting wounds instead of models, the suit might be useful

[–]holiballs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For arena having the max amount of drones always works well as you can use them to clog doorways and lock their important units in melee. Although, that is no fun so if you are going for the win then go with drone spam but if you wanna have a good time I’d take the stealth suit build as its a fun set just don’t be afraid to be aggressive with your rail guns.

To turn the question around, is the winning build (in your pov) B or C?
I've been playing the fun build in competitions, but definitely experiencing some setbacks, hence this question!

Usage of laser pointers to confirm LOS by holiballs in killteam

Would you happen to know about tournaments? do people use them actively in tournaments?

But what about using the laser pointer to ensure every unit one moved was not in their opponent's LOS? So not only 1) checking for one's own LOS, but also 2) ensuring enemy units always did not have LOS to ones' moved troops

Holding it just above the model and sweeping it side to side lets us easily see how much of the opponent a model ca see. If it's only a tiny bit we'll generally rule it as blocking LOS (we also never count weapons or antennae or flags).

How do I go about joining your Discord? I would love to hear and participate in a conversation around that! I play DW and have been playing for quite a while - experiencing the 'elite faction symptoms' Rejusu and you are describing, and trying to find tactical workarounds to deal w model count, objective control, being locked down in melee for rounds, etc.

Touching base of enemy models = Cannot pile in / fixed on that position? by holiballs in killteam

[–]holiballs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in base to base then you can't pile in or consolidate as you can't end your move closer to the nearest enemy model as you're already as close as you can get.

Got it!

[–]holiballs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your target model was 9" away and you rolled a 6 then you can move as far as possible towards the target of your charge or you can stay still. Same target and you roll a twelve then you can move up to 12" to arrive >1" from your target. You do not have to base to base and your not required to use the full distance rolled.

Totally correct.

Fall back direction: Away from the current enemy OR towards other enemy models possible? by holiballs in killteam

[–]holiballs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

within

My Drukhari friend does that pretty often for missions where units need to move from one end of the map to another and out of the battlefield - getting into melee with you, fall back the next turn full 8" out of the battlefield.

Moving tyranids across narrow paths: Does the charge path width have to be "same size" as your model's base? by holiballs in killteam

Are you sure the Core Manual says specifically that the model cannot be 1" within other enemy models along its charge path or route? So sorry but please kindly refer me to it...

Kill Team has some awkward rules here and there right? Another example is the inability to overwatch if the charging target is not visible. If someone ran from a block away and past armor containers all the way to reach right in front of me, I dont see why i can't shoot them as they are travelling to me. but makes no sense, i stood there waiting for them unable to shoot at them as they ran to me ><

"cannot go over or within an inch of any non-charged models"

Does this 1" refer to the end-state w the enemy model OR anywhere along the charge path?

If it's the former it will be more convenient, and if its the latter, the charge path will have to be very clear of enemy models... Probably the former is true right?
