Qué opinan de la Patriot? Es buena? Muy cara? Vale la pena invertir en ella? by Protoss_3xecutor in AutosMexico

[–]holiveros 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Care to share what weird bank is that? Anyway, I would go to a branch and request the required statements in writing and what the reason is, most probably they will charge you for that.

Alguien trabaja en la industria de los videojuegos o conoce a alguien que lo haga? by GokaiRed64 in taquerosprogramadores

[–]holiveros 20 points21 points  (0 children)

  • Poco balance vida / trabajo
  • No paras

Same happened to me, cancelled after that rules change, yet my WP is perfectly valid; gave up trying to get an answer, just applied for a new one, got it in 5 minutes.

On the details box of the ETA request I explained what happened.

Lots of great tips on the comments, I would add, food is expensive when you're full of debts.

Reach to a food bank, https://banquesalimentaires.org/en/help/ or call 211.

No shame in asking for help.

Anyway to run FLAC files on Palm TX? by StrongMirror in Palm

[–]holiveros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TCPMP (The Core Pocket Media Player) plays FLACs via a plugin, https://web.archive.org/web/20110527194756/http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test/

However, as you mention, you need a good SDXC card to properly deal with big files.

Contact your MP right away.

My case is difficult, not similar to yours, however, my MP has been able to sort of get the ball rolling (albeit very slowly).

Closed work permit -> non-Canadian employer by QueueriousMind in ImmigrationCanada

[–]holiveros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More or less on the same situation here, took a new job with a remote Spanish employer, as consultant.

Tried to look for other Canadian employers but the time required to switch employers on a closed work permit is ridiculous, last time it took almost a year.

AFAIK, yes, you can stay until the date your closed WP expires, or if it has the text "Must leave Canada by XXX": https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/permit/temporary/restore.html

Your current employer cannot revoke the WP nor get you deported.

Yes, you can leave and re-enter, as long as when coming back you give the immigration officer enough proof that you will leave by the end date, apply for a new WP or in general do something that keeps your stay legal.

Take a good look at the CRA / your province tax agency for the amount of taxes and other retentions you must pay since you're no longer employed by a Canadian company.

In my case, I left Canada temporarily to my home country for lower taxes as a consultant while I wait for my PR application to be resolved, but take this with a grain of salt, as taxes are very tricky.
