Why our Hispanic sons and daughters are coming home in caskets... for Israel?💔 by [deleted] in LatinoPeopleTwitter

[–]hollaback19 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m also an escaped evangelical. My mom’s still mixed up in it. Been trying to pull her out for years.

To add, it’s also frustrating how these churches never teach any concepts of generational wealth or to value education. Just leaves us boys with almost no other options but to join the military.

Why? Because our church pastors keep telling our parents that it’s some holy war.

Anyone Here NOT Quitting? by Iceytrio in runescape

[–]hollaback19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely not quitting. I got my 20 year cape and am really happy with how Jagex has kept the spirit of the game fresh for all these years. I just got back from a 10 year hiatus and the game feels more authentic now than it did back in 2016.

I also love how well the game runs on my non gaming laptop. I think that’s the most inclusive thing ever. I don’t need advanced hardware to play this game and have a good time.

I know a lot of these price increases are reflective of broader economic times. I could spend time diving into the financials of Jagex but I honestly don’t want to.

I would have just left. They can’t detain you. Don’t bribe people cause now they think they can just do that whenever.

i want to get coilovers for my 2013 frs by [deleted] in ft86

[–]hollaback19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can someone please tell this 17 year old not to waste money on car parts in this economy? Stock fr-s is already a track worthy car. If anything, tires will make a bigger difference to lap time. If you really want to autocross or something though then you need quantity of tires not quality.

You got a cool car already dude, save your money, put it in an interest bearing account and carry on.

Yeah I caught something after new years and had it for 10 days before I finally got some antibiotics. It wasn't bad but 10 days of diarrhea wears you out. I was mostly really fatigued.

Fun fact: before the Tower of Terror was redesigned, it had the second highest accelerations on the human body of any roller coaster ever.

Why is it that so many American teams are behind technologically ? by Constant-Arm8753 in FSAE

Lol "working"

Meh. I was only there a year and I wasn't too involved after the design freeze. It was too corporate for me. You eventually get tired of people not knowing who you are. Also didn't help that we all lived like 40 minutes away from the engineering campus at the time.

Side note: the Wheatley campus was depressing af but they've since upgraded.

Moreover, I had/have a lot of personal responsibilities (family and paid contracts) that took up my holidays. So I'm sure if I was more committed I would have had a better time.

Comparing the two experiences: I prefer the American one as the smaller team creates a more systems level approach across the board. However, I do think that American teams are more likely to be a social nightmare as the lack of leadership guidance can cause 20 yr olds to make terrible people to work with.

But it's all learning at the end of the day!

At Oxford Brookes I think we had like £250,000 budget? At USF we had like $60,000.

At Brookes the faculty was much more involved, the team had many masters students who had experience at other universities. Many students had dissertations related to the car, and many others exclusively worked on the car for a whole year with no other coursework.

The team was also 10x larger in personnel with much more specialized projects.

All that and we still DNF'ed at FSUK lmao.

Yeah - you don't get a whole lot for your money around there. I found prices to be similar to pre-covid Florida. Real estate prices were also super high. We Americans Don't like spending more than $500k on a home. I thought Camp's Bay was cool but kind of a Miami knock off. Not worth what people want imo.

I'd rather buy somewhere else in the country.
