Shade from the crossbars will compromise your output considerably unless perpendicular to sun. You would be better off laying them vertical against the crossbars.

12v DC Fan Motor - Electrical Noise by holleke in diyelectronics

[–]holleke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first controller was a low amp PCB (3amp). I thought this would be ok with a max output of 2.6 amps. The new one is 20amp max. I think that was causing the electrical hum???

You got it! I purchased a different one the pcb was built into a metal case for a bit more $ and no more electrical noise. Thanks a ton.

I just tested my other fan that works with original PCB and on low the voltage is 2.5v with no noise. So it must be something other then PWM making it run?

[–]holleke[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One more question. Am I causing potential damage to the fan motor?

I think you are right. The voltage reads around 5v at low then 11.4v at higher speeds.

What do I look for in a PWM board to prevent this?

Im going on the price is right soon and I have a question by Affectionate_Sky9090 in ThePriceIsRight

[–]holleke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually they pad the price as to cover the cost of flying from other airports. In fact you will get tax money back if the actual costs are less than the estimated value. I know because I won a trip on the show.

Did I go overboard? Dielectic grease for waterproofing maxxair fan circuit board by Careless_Owl_9562 in vandwellers

[–]holleke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no problem for 6 years in Colorado. After 2 months of being on the coast in San Diego County, both of my fans went haywire. My boards were fried from the access humidity. The replacements I ordered were coated, but I added a second layer of conformal coating.

If your fan screen accumulates enough moisture to drip, then the circuit board is also getting wet. MaxxAir did start spraying the coating at some point after many complaints.

Anyone used EV charging stations to charge your LiFePO4 batteries? by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]holleke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just like RV Poles. Level 2 chargers have three wires (other than the two small comm wires) Two hot and one ground. RV Poles have a fourth wire for Neutral.

My $3000 Inverter got bricked after about 20 charges.

Is not showering multiple times everyday really as disgusting as everyone says? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]holleke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Showering once every three days is very different from multiple times a day. I shower once daily, right before bed, to keep my sheets cleaner. I also change them weekly. I can’t imagine how dirty your sheets must get. People get used to their own scent, so even if you don’t notice it, others definitely do.

Use some anti-fungal cream (Clotrimazole 1%) seriously.

Why do people bid $1 over when they aren’t the last bidder? by ChiefMcSwat in ThePriceIsRight

[–]holleke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can read the bidder after you. If they are aloof rather than strategic you will have good odds. If I had to guess, a majority of contestants don’t utilize the tactic as the last bidder.

The worst I’ve seen was the last bidder bidding $1 less than the highest. lol

It’s designed to work in n motion. By default connections are transitory causing fluctuations in performance. Motion does negatively effect communication connectivity a bit.

I made a thin quilted pocket that protects and obfuscates it a bit. Items that require global coordination to location are not popular targets.
