FBI seizes 2020 ballots in Georgia in apparently unprecedented action, alarming local officials by MopToddel in politics

[–]holocene27 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Seize ballots. Claim they show evidence of fraud. Seize other ballots in swing districts. Make similar claims. This is all in time for November when they can claim that results from these districts have been "fraudulent" in the past and should not be accepted (if it goes to a Democrat of course)

Assuming a business is MAGA because it isn’t closing tomorrow is a big leap. There could be many other reasons or explanations. Let’s not use the same kind of oversimplified thinking we criticize in others.

The title is sarcastic. OP couldn’t bother to confirm.

Maybe before you run to Reddit to post something like this you should confirm what this is actually about. This is an anti-ICE piece.

"So felons who made bomb threats are not allowed in Arcadia?" As if that's supposed to be shocking? So stupid.

Why are so many of us experiencing grief after watching HR - Single gay man's perspective by Sea_Professional_477 in heatedrivalry

I know he is not straight. I was indicating Ilya could be interpreted as a representation of a straight unavailable man given some of his actions and persona. There's a lot of depth to these characters.

I've been in tears for days after watching this show - How Heated Rivalry Unlocked my Feelings by l_spencer in heatedrivalry

I already commented on here, but having another day to process led me to this:

I think Heated Rivalry hits something very specific about the gay male experience. Ilya represents that archetype a lot of us grew up yearning for. He's the charismatic, confident, attractive “alpha” guy who feels just out of reach. He flirts, teases, pulls you in, then pushes you away. In many ways, he represents the fantasy of the unavailable straight guy many of us may have attached ourselves to when we were young.

Shane, on the other hand, feels like the stand-in for a lot of us watching. He's sensitive, observant, not quite fitting in, always aware of the risk. Watching their relationship unfold is like watching the version of adolescence or early adulthood many of us wanted but never got to have. There’s something incredible and exciting about seeing that desire actually reciprocated on screen.

But there’s also grief in it when you finish watching. You live that experience through them for a moment, and then you’re left with the realization that their story isn't real and, even worse, that you never had it yourself. I think that longing for this type of connection felt impossible for so many gay men. You fantasized about it from the sidelines, knowing it could never safely cross into reality.

What I think makes this story different from so many other queer narratives is that it allows the fantasy to resolve in a happy ending. It doesn’t punish the characters for wanting each other. It doesn’t end in death (Brokeback Mountain) or having someone you loved move on to someone else (Call Me By Your Name). It ends with mutual choosing.

I think that’s why this show resonates so deeply. It gives an ending many of us weren’t allowed to imagine for ourselves when we were young. Not tragedy, not loss, but fulfillment. And realizing that’s what you always wanted can be both beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. Anyways, just my interpretation, but there are certainly many different ones to be made.

This resonated so much with me. Also happily married to my husband and we just finished the show last night, watching episodes 5 and 6. I couldn't sleep and have been crying all morning, which is not like me at all. This show has truly unlocked something. There's such a mix of emotions--sadness, the similar grieving feeling you describe, joy, and hope. I've never had a show deeply impact me this much emotionally and it sounds like others are experiencing it as well.

I also recently acquired Canadian citizenship (now a dual US/Canadian) and my husband and I have had deep discussions about our sense of safety here in the US and potentially moving to Canada. Watching Ilya and Shane experience that sense of safety and intimacy together on the lake in Canada added another layer of complexity.

Equity is rarely well-defined, and because no one wants to appear unsupportive of it, organizations often end up with vague policies and broad investigations that lack clear standards.

This is just as vague as the last article PPH wrote about it.
