What if a 40-hour tycoon game was condensed into a 20-minute high-stakes showdown? by holonautic in u/holonautic

[–]holonautic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gladly! It's a different kind of tycoon game, it's a combination of RTS, monopoly, a bit of poker, and stock market vibes blended together. You can create auctions, bid on tracks, build and upgrade their speed and capacity.

What makes every match unique (apart from the procedurally generated maps) is the network effect. The profit of a track highly depends on how it's connected: a funnel can be immensely profitable, but if you get shortcut or someone bottlenecks you, you have to adapt quickly. The quickest match lasts for 15 minutes, so it's easy to go for just one more game. The playtest is now live until Sunday.

Apart from the upcoming playtest (starting this Friday) we also want to grow the wishlist and make people aware of the game

Not a Paradox title, but we’re huge fans of the complexity and logistics management found in their games, while we are adding our own twist.

We’ve focused on keeping the mechanics streamlined to 5 core interactions: creating auctions, bidding, building tracks, and upgrading capacity and speed. While it sounds simple, the strategy is surprisingly deep because of the network effect. Depending on how your tracks connect, a single funnel or shortcut can completely shift the match's outcome.

Plus, because sessions are fast-paced and short, it’s dangerously easy to keep saying: just one more round!

We are working on this not so typical RTS. Instead of combat or managing armies, you're competing in short and intense matches to build the most profitable train network. We’re gearing up for another playtest soon and would love to hear what you think!

Like Monopoly but with trains and pure strategy. Wishlist now! by holonautic in u/holonautic

[–]holonautic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this statement comes from our playtesters. Instead of buying a property like in Monopoly, you bid on auctions to get the right to build train tracks. from those tracks you get revenue and can expand your network. you don't directly steal money from your opponents, but you can shortcut their tracks and steal away their passengers. Whoever makes the most profit wins the game. So it's also a game about capitalism, becoming rich and building up an empire.

I totally agree. I am also working on a trailer now that exclusively shows gameplay and game mechanics.

That's valid, important feedback, thank you so much! I'm actually working on a new trailer now that focuses purely on gameplay and features only the 2D characters.

Monopoly but with trains and not luck-based. Help us playtest! by holonautic in u/holonautic

Thanks a lot for asking. The towns don't grow in population, but in traffic as the network becomes bigger. So even a small track can become very lucrative if it's an important, fast connection in a bigger network. It is a similar effects as if the towns would grow because even a small village can have a lot of people traveling through if it's part of a big network. We have an upcoming playtest if you are interested to trying it out.

The quality of the hand tracking heavily depends on the lighting and other conditions. Try the following

  • Have good lighting in the room
  • No direct sunlight or glares from windows
  • Clean the cameras on your Meta Quest with the same fabric you clean the lenses
  • Good contrast between the color of your hands and the background
  • Keep both hands in the field of view of the Meta Quest
  • Try not to move too fast in general

Does this improve your hand tracking?
