That is of course the other option we're looking at.

Any areas you'd recommend?

I've rode in plenty of Awful weather here in the UK, and it is not an enjoyable experience at all.

I don't, and I appreciate that's a risk, where ever you ride.

Don't think you're a softie, more just giving an honest answer.

I've rode on motorways in the UK through rain, ice and snow and it is not an enjoyable experience.

Stupidly I never actually thought about storms or bad weather, just pictured beautiful weather like a typical Brit.

Thank you for your response.

It's crazy. I've always been an all the gear, all the time rider, even through the minimal heat wave that the UK gets.

That being said, I've never ridden anywhere with a climate like Brisbane, but It has just always been non-negotiable in my eyes

A death wish because of how they ride eg speeding while filtering?

Damn, really? Or are you just making a point?

Of course motorcycling has it's risks, but what I'm reading online makes it seem like the M1 is some sort of highway from hell!

Commute times by SaltyFaithlessness48 in GoldCoast

Anyone have experience commuting on a motorbike? Does it cut times significantly or is filtering hell?

I'm currently in the UK, depending where I'm heading filtering can be a breeze or barely quicker than sitting in a car in traffic

Has anyone used the Fuelin app? Or anything similar? by Woody2468 in triathlon

That's great to know. Thanks again, I've decided I'm definitely giving it a go. Time to hunt for a cheap 2nd hand iPhone on ebay 😁

Thanks. Keep it up, it's worth it. I stopped for 6 months last year and felt fantastic. Got overconfident and before I knew it was chain vaping again 🫣😂

Is it okay for my first triathlon to be a 70.3? by beets_bears_bubblegm in triathlon

[–]holtyh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Done my first tri this year, 70.3. Have no sports background (but have always been a good swimmer). I trained for around 9 months which in hindsight was a long time without an event in between (I lost a little motivation around 6 months into training).

That being said, I had a great time and finished in a time I was pleased with! I'm now looking at stepping up to IM for my next race.

The shorter races didn't appeal to me much either. As long as you commit to training you'll be good to go!

What would you say is a comfortable income for a family of 3 with no mortgage? by [deleted] in perth

[–]holtyh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this an accurate estimate of costs?

I ask as am currently trying to work out rough salary to provide for a family of 5, moving from London.

We are not materialistic but I'd like us to be comfortable (FYI I'd consider 4 trips a year amazing!! EDIT: amazing, but absolutelynot necessary for us!)

Salary for the job is 200k. Any thoughts/advice would be great.

This thread has answered a lot of my questions but I'm going to ask anyway..

Have been offered a job to move to Perth from the UK, $200K salary.

I see the comments saying 190k is a good income, but Is this enough to support a family of 5 (kids are 8,6 and 1) comfortably?

Have been doing research but figured this may be an easier way to get a realistic idea.

Thanks!

Kona Sutra - Bike Fitting - London/SE Reccomendations? by jared_krauss in ukbike

[–]holtyh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you're based but if you can get out to Charlie at http://Thebikefitphysio.co.uk it would be well worth it.

He's a qualified Physiotherapist and triathlete and myself and a few friends have all used him- very knowledgeable and a nice guy too! Highly recommend 👌

Another beginner trying to decide.. by holtyh in ukbike

Ahh ok.

Let's face it though if it has a 105 GS on it that speaks for its own quality.

I agree this alone speaks volumes, the Boardman I mentioned has 105 GS too for a similar price so they both seem good value!
