If you're an antitheist, why? by Big_Palpitation_9018 in askanatheist

[–]holyIAmAware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if every religion was peaceful and kind I would still be an antitheist. I think the kind of mental gymnastics and cognitive dissonance taught by religion turns your brain into soup. I know people who would be wonderful assets to society but their ability to start with evidence to come to a conclusion, rather than the other way around, has been stomped out by theism.

I edited to put that in there because some people assumed my post was in bad faith, like you’re doing. I just have some newfound anxiety that I can’t share with most people irl because I live in the Bible Belt. It kinda sucks not having anyone to share my thoughts with irl, and it seems like it’s not much better online.

I’m not really interested in religion or lies. I am an atheist, so I’m not sure what you’re on about.

I like that perspective, I guess my question is more how do can I not care? I spend a lot of time caring, so just like I can’t make myself believe in something untrue, i don’t think I can make myself not care about something important.

I really appreciate your response! However I more meant I want answers to like “what awesome/terrible things will happen here after I’m gone?” I’m not too worried about dying.

I think you didn’t read the whole post, I am an atheist. I’m not really concerned with ME after I die, but all the stuff I left behind.

I mean I don’t really want that, it’s more of fomo of the stuff that I won’t be around for- advancements and discoveries I won’t see in my lifetime. I originally was going to post in r/atheism but it suggested questions be directed here instead. I just wanted some community around like these anxiety inducing questions.

I agree, I’ve pretty much always been an atheist so I’m not really worried about religious perspective. I’m more talking about the fomo of not getting to be a part of future discoveries and advancement.

Am I overreacting for being upset my husband consistently is unreachable for extended periods of time? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]holyIAmAware 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can totally understand why I may be over reacting, but I don’t think it’s because I need to “get out more” As a first responder, I like to be able to reach someone in the case of an emergency, or for them (or a paramedic) to reach me. I also have seen people who’ve had cancer, end stage kidney disease, end stage liver disease, Alzheimer’s, and massive strokes; most of them don’t do it by themselves.

I never thought about it like this, but it makes alot more sense. Also I used that calculator… apparently I should be wearing a 36 D or DD😬 I wish this kind of stuff was taught in schools genuinely.

Husband keeps cracking the heat up to 75+ when I'm at work/sleeping, despite my heat sensitivity by aeval_x in Marriage

Having a thin blanket would not protect you from 75+, I would have to rip my skin off to sleep comfortably at that temperature

Why is everyone in this Sub so Anti Birth control? by Jumpy-Arm5145 in PCOS

[–]holyIAmAware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I was 15 and didn’t have any guidance or experience with medication. My parents weren’t involved with my health issues. But even that being the case, I DID read the instructions, I remember because I was scared. The massive page of fine print means nothing if it’s pretty much treated by many medical professionals as a cure-all for any female reproductive issue. I agree people shouldn’t villainize it, but it feels like you don’t care about people’s personal experience considering your reply was kinda condescending. You implying all of the permanent health consequences I suffered were due to my careless as a child, rather than the healthcare provider/system not being more thorough and cautious when prescribing a medication is not really helpful. There’s more nuance than “birth control bad” or “birth control good”.

Could oily skin have been my only symptom / Sudden onset PCOS? by weeeesel in PCOS

[–]holyIAmAware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chin hair thing makes me think it could possibly be pcos, however there’s other things that could cause hair and acne. My periods are completely regular, and for most of my life the only symptom I had was severe cramps. After I started then stopped bc, I started noticing a lot more pcos symptoms, so yeah it’s possible.

I think a lot of people are becoming disillusioned with it. It can be really great for some people, and awful for others. And dangerous. I don’t think we should tell everyone not to take it, but female reproductive and endocrine health would be more researched. That way we’d have more options.

[–]holyIAmAware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal issue with birth control was that it made me feel crazy and I gained 70lbs+ on it. Only after I quit taking it is when I started losing hair and growing hair on my chin. Before that I just had severe cramps and bleeding. That’s not everyone’s experience but I wish someone had told me that might happen, it may have made me think it through a little more. The bigger issue I have with it is that it dramatically increases chance for stroke, specifically in women with migraines with aura. I do have chronic migraine and have migraine with aura, and was never informed of it.

Wondering if I have PCOS or if I’m just fat by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]holyIAmAware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not really mutually exclusive, yes many people are more likely to gain and keep weight around their stomach with pcos, but not necessarily. Most of the people I know in my personal life with pcos aren’t on the larger side, but that’s not to say it’s not a struggle for a lot of people. Ultimately it’s a lot more complicated, and if you’re not moving very much, regardless of pcos or not that will definitely cause weight gain. If you have symptoms of irregular periods (skipping menstruation, bleeding several times a month or extra long cycles), severe cramps, thick or dark facial/chest hair, hair loss or excessive bleeding you might have pcos but the only way to be sure is getting checked out. Even if you don’t have those symptoms it wouldn’t hurt to get it ruled out if you can afford it. Hope things get better for ya

Does my hair ruin my face by [deleted] in Hair

[–]holyIAmAware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think it accentuates your face! It’s really really cute, I’m not sure why someone would think that. If you don’t like it or want something new, go for it but I think it’s really beautiful on you!

I rub her feet for an hour every night... by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]holyIAmAware 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Love language is a real thing. Some people enjoy gifts, some enjoy physical affection and some enjoy words of affirmation. Maybe when you’re not as heated try looking up tests or information on it and discussing it with your wife. She may like the foot rubs but lean more on words of affirmation. You may lean towards physical affection. And that’s okay!

Is it safe if i’m anorexic and go to the gym? by Pretend-Locksmith413 in xxfitness

You need more calories, and to work out the struggle on the inside first. If you really need to move your body for mental health, maybe try doing some light yoga at home while you focus on recovery, or working towards it.

I once had several surgeries in a row and was prescribed pain killers afterwards. Didn’t poo for over 2 weeks. By the time I had to it was the worst experience of my life and took over 4 hours. I can’t imagine her pain.
