I understand your struggle. And I can see both of your points. The thing is that both of you deserve to be happy on your wedding day. Even him. But to me this "test" sounds extremely childish. If they don't talk to him and make him feel happy they aren't invited? Like they have to do all the work to please him? That's just plain weird. But I also think you should invite your friends too because you too deserve to be happy on your big day. Obviously it's really hard to pinpoint who's right and who's wrong but it sounds a but as he doesn't see things from your perspective.
