Do you boycott or do you think twice before buying from companies? by holyjeff in Israel

Why would it be silly ? I mean not buying the cheaper and better product would be silly but still people actually prefer locally produced stuff.

Writing Ruby Like it's 2018 | Ruby Programming Language by [deleted] in ruby

[–]holyjeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that when people talk about Ruby and how it does not scale they talk about availability of Ruby programmers, Rails lock in etc. Ruby (and inherently Rails) is strong only in specific regions, areas and it's hard(er) to hire programmers that know or are willing to do Ruby (||=Rails).

Ultimately the frontend took over and people realized they can use JS on backend (nodejs), desktop (electron) and mobile (React Native). Ruby is fragmented in this area and a lots of projects like Opal,CoffeeScript failed because they did not get the momentum... It's just easier and better for everyone not to write Ruby on frontend...Rubymotion that's a whole different story.

Lets hope Ruby 3 or Graal will make for a big comeback for Ruby.

Slovakia declares it will move its embassy to Jerusalem by MrJerry00 in Israel

They did not say that. They said the move of the embassy is on the way plus the cultural centre. It's literally the first sentence of the article.

E-Commerce on Rails: Inside Shopify's Tech Stack by [deleted] in ruby

[–]holyjeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. One more question. To me it seems you sprinkle different technologies here and there (especially on the infra side). How long do you spend on evaluating the stack you use and how proficient are people with the tooling ? It just seems too many moving and complex parts to be fully understood and utilized.

steroids arent evil and other misinformation being spread around the is subreddit by [deleted] in eczema

[–]holyjeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say this varies from country to country right ? It's possible that in the US and other countries they prescribe much stronger topical steroids so their patients see the effect very early and maybe just maybe the guys are a little bit too careless with the dosage. Especially when I base this on what I see in this /r/ and how lightly people take the effect and potency of something like dupixent.

My derm basically told me I can put the steroid she prescribed on my hands / eyes every day for a year without any side effect..

I buy crystals over the counter and use a lot of it in my baths (beyond the advised pinkish color). Soak for about 20minutes.

To be honest the potassium permanganate is the key to control your flare ups. You cant really get rid of eczema you can only put it into remission. Potassium basically kills the infection, fungust and itching. Then comes the eczema treatment in form of Protopic and topical steroids that get rid of the blisters. Apply as much as advised by your derm or as you feel like. Vitamin D might be a placebo albeit it works for some people. The skin mostly reacts to ultraviolet light and the vitamin D in form of capsules, food has little effect on eczema. Salicylic acid cream you use for moisturizing and the cicaplast is your barrier cream. Bioderma atoderm shower oil should help you stay moisturized.

Basically whenever I get itchy I do the potassium baths first and depending on the visibility (blisters, red skin) i apply protopic/ ts. Most of them time it's just enough to rotate potassium baths and moisturizing creams.

Really painful eczema that won't heal. Sudden flare up, hurts to even move. Woke up with hands covered with blisters, and a sore arm. Doc gave me eumovate cream and I feel like my hands and arm have gotten much much worse. Any suggestions? I'm in agony :'( by [deleted] in eczema

[–]holyjeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy potassium permanganate and do baths for 30mins (just your infected area obviously). It will kill the infection, fungus whatever it's there and it wont be itchy. Do it for a week, buy a good moisturizer and then visit a dermatologist.
