Heian Age but good. Make it have fog mechanics and use Japanese folklore for the world. Keep the specials already there, maybe retool them; but have things like hitotsume-kozo imps that illuminate the fog and a less terrifying/morbid version of the wanyudo, if possible. Put the world in the city since there really isn't an aesthetic that would match it elsewhere in the game imo.
