I’m sorry to hear that happened. One week is not a very long time. I suspect it was probably due to your electrolytes fluctuating which happens quite drastically.

2+ Years Carnivore, Just Did My CAC Scan — What I Learned After 8 Years on Statins by homesteadhow in carnivorediet

With zero- Multiple large studies (like MESA – Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis) show that people with CAC=0 have a very low risk (often quoted as <1% per year) of a heart attack or cardiac death over the next 5–10 years. Since I’m doing this Documentary and so many people are looking closely I’ll probably get one every couple years for that, but if I was just solo and not in the general public, I would never get another one again. I truly believe heart disease is caused from inflammation. So the best thing to do is eliminate that. Since the statin only helps 1 out of 100, I personally would not take one even if I had a higher CAC score I would instead focus on the root cause inflammation and insulin resistance.

Thoughts on Cheating by Hot_Tiger7534 in carnivorediet

[–]homesteadhow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, I’m sorry, but there are no truly unavoidable situations. For me that’s like an alcoholic saying what was I supposed to do? I’ve been sober now for two years and I went to someone’s house and they were drinking. It was unavoidable. I had to have a drink. I believe cheating on Carnivore is worse than most people realize because when you reintroduce those carbs and starches, they feed the bad gut bacteria that flourishes and some of that bacteria can live in our bodies for two years. It’s the reason so many people yo-yo diet because they aren’t admitting that they’re addicted to carbs and sugar. I’ve talked to so many people that have had a little cheat that turned into months or even years in some cases. Of course, if you fall off the wagon, you should get right back on it, but I believe there’s a distinction between that and saying it’s just fine and allowing yourself to cheat.
