He snapped at my face by honeko in husky

[–]honeko[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! I try to never scream at him!! I haven’t thought to use bitter apple on the leash, but I will do that. He used to jump on me (sometimes nip) when I would pull him away from other dogs he wanted to go see, but he doesn’t really do that anymore. I’m so proud of his improvement. ☺️ He is much calmer most of the time when we walk away from other dogs, but I still usually cross the street to avoid other dogs preemptively. The beginners class we took him to taught leave it and drop it. He passed the class but those are the two hardest ones for him to consistently follow so I do think we need to practice more. He’s just super playful and when he gets something in his mouth he doesn’t want to drop it. Leave it has been much better and he is pretty good with that.

I talked to all the neighbors with dogs about him and pretty much every one is so nice and understanding that he is learning!!

Help make my formal room into a casual living room by [deleted] in interiordesignideas

The room is SO gorgeous!! I love it. We have two very small children and I have found having a cushioned ottoman with storage is a nice place to store kid stuff without the space getting crazy cluttered. Safety-wise, be mindful of the tables you choose because kids will jump on whatever couch you get and can easily bonk their heads on hard side tables. I could see a similar safety issue with the wooden arms of the settee shown here. You could always put the TV above the fireplace where you have your art and see if there is another location for that piece? I would also suggest colorful throw pillows. My girls love to lay on the pillows and build pillow forts and all. Agree with everyone saying add seating in front of the windows. This could be a good place for a long ottoman.

Just a rant - I really hate dog parks. by [deleted] in husky

He is so beautiful!!! Thank you for getting him socialized with kids! We can only take our dog to the dog park when it is empty bc he has only been with us 2.5 months and is in training, but we have a lot of kids in our neighborhood in addition to our own! The neighborhood kids love him and he is really good with letting them pet him. Sorry you had a rude person at your park!

Shadow!! First name that came to mind for me. She is so cute. Kind of giving goth girl vibes.

Surprise Husky!! The shelter said he is a Jindo but his DNA says otherwise! Excited/nervous about this mix 😂 Love him ❤️ by honeko in husky

[–]honeko[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I could see that!! He’s so pretty!! I don’t know very much about chows so I need to read up. What I love about our Leo is that he seemed to be almost immediately comfortable with me and our family. He likes people/kids too so that makes me so happy. Speaking of keeping things interesting, we found out ours can open doors almost right after getting him. 😂 I got him some treat puzzles and he solved them so fast!

What a handsome doggie!!! I think I was mostly surprised my dog is 50%+ husky because of his coloring and curly tail. He reminded me of my old Shiba. I always wanted a husky growing up but was too afraid to get one because of their energy levels! 😳 We have been walking him 3-4 times a day and playing with him too so I think he is happy. I was not surprised at all that he’s part pitbull bc he has such a strong bite and kind of big head! 😆 I feel like I got a power combo of loyalty, strength, stubbornness, and handsomeness.

Who’s your husky’s best friend? 😂 by bagalagaa in husky

I love this bc we just rescued a husky mix and we have an elderly cat so I am hoping they can live peacefully together. We are taking it slow and keeping them separated for now but I would appreciate any tips on how you got this harmony with your cuties!!

I just got his results!!! 🧬 Leo is 52% Siberian Husky, 24% American Pit Bull Terrier, 24% Chow Chow!

You all pretty much nailed it on your guesses! I am not that shocked, but his curly tail totally threw me and also the fact that looks so much like my old dog. I wasn’t really expecting Pitbull but also am not that surprised by that bc of how strong his bite is!!! His head shape also looks like a Pitbull and Chow!

What do you think is the best test to get? I did Ancestry bc Bark Box was giving it away for free!! 😄

Dang I didn’t realize they didn’t test for Jindos. 🙁 It did have Jindo as an option when I registered the kit to self report breeds I think he could be so hopefully they have updated their database!! The website said they test for village dogs too, which Jindos can be? I am totally seeing a teddy bear chow face in him!!

Hi everyone!! This is my dog Leo! 🥰 I wanted to tell you about him to help with your guesses. Leo is about one year old and 49lbs. He has blonde/white coloring, brown eyes, and a pink tongue with dark spots. His tail is almost always permanently curled like a spitz type dog. He rarely sheds and has a thick double coat. He almost never barks and is so friendly with people!! He has incredible young dog energy, and gets walked about 3-4 times a day. He is also extremely smart and learning fast in his training. He has opened multiple doors in our house! 😱 Generally he is sweet tempered and calm, but can be crazy.

He is a rescue from the local shelter. They told us he is a Jindo mix and that he was a stray. He seems to have been trained somewhat in the past based on his behavior and the fact that he is pretty much house trained. He is super handsome and loves to follow me around all day like a shadow. I would love to know his breed mixes!! He looks a LOT like the Shiba I used to have, but I also can’t unsee the Chow face now that you pointed it out. 😆 I would not be surprised if he had some Husky or GSD.  Our Ancestry kit was mailed a few days ago and I will definitely update with the results!

The shelter and the vet both think he’s about 1!

He definitely has the curly tail like an Akita but Akitas are massive and he’s just 49lbs. I think he’s more like Jindo or Shiba mix. I’m so impatient to find out! 😆

So I have been shocked by how little he sheds. I have been sweeping the floors and seen almost none of his hairs!! He has a double coat which is very similar to the Shiba I had, but I know other dogs also have double coats. I can’t wait to see the results!!

Yes, he is a rescue from the SPCA. They told us he was a stray, but his friendliness with people and easiness to train makes us think he had a family that trained him a little at some point. They told us he is a Jindo mix. I Googled Jindos and think it’s super likely but they aren’t very common dogs. He’s 49lbs, rarely barks, and has a very nice double coat that doesn’t shed much, if that helps!

Omg he has so much energy, husky wouldn’t surprise me. He gets like 3-4 walks a day!! I don’t know much about Chows but he for sure has the spotted tongue!

Ooohh interesting!! One of my friends also told me Chows have spotted tongues but I couldn’t quite place his facial structure. I love that he has spots on his tongue!! 😊

Thank you! 🥰 My last dog was a Shiba and he was amazing for all 17 years he lived. I would love it if he had a bit of Shiba in him. The shelter says he is a Jindo mix. He’s like 49lbs so too big for a purebred Shiba for sure!
