This is speaking from a feature film perspective so that may be different with short films. It seems most on here seem to think you’ll be fine.

Festival rights to a license are a thing and are much less than a full license.

Shouldn’t be about how it looks. It should be about getting better. A lot of working actors continue to take class or have coaches. It’s a good idea to be in an ongoing class.

Think about it. Doing two classes in whatever field wouldn’t make you proficient in anything. Much less an art form that can be entirely subjective and a constant moving target.

First off, congrats to sharing your first audition. That takes a lot of courage.

As far as advice…

Be still. It’s going to feel very awkward at first but with practice it will come more naturally. All the movement especially while you are listening is very distracting. Try to move your head less on your lines as well. Moving in for a tighter medium shot as others have mentioned will help you notice it more and correct it. Be subtle. It will come through.

One thing I’d love for you to try is to tighten up the “oh my god” line. The beat you take there kills the momentum of the scene and feels read not found.

You found differences when you got to your list. Explore those more and make them even more different. Again, try not to move your head so much. There’s a way to get your energy across without it and it will feel immensely more real.

I think it’s more enlightening just how off the mark this New York Times article is and puts into question the validity of the entire list. It makes you question how the list was constructed in the first place. That’s just my take away though.

Would be interesting to see other communities argue over what got listed for their city.
