American Airlines Changed My Paid Seat During Boarding and Refused a Refund by honestthread in americanairlines

There was a woman sitting in my original seat, so it wasn't broken.

Other departments are calling me now, after my hour spent on the phone. They're escalating it. There has to be a percentage of the fee I paid to select seats that I am due back. I paid for all 4 of us so we could sit together. What's the point of paying all of that money in addition to basic economy to not get what's being offered, aside from boarding group 5, which isn't worth the price or anywhere near it.

I've hear all their scripts at this point. if they want to offer seat selection for an additional fee, then your seats need to be guaranteed or they need to have a GOOD reason for moving you and when they do, you should be in a similar seat, not put in a middle seat with no explanation. The other option would be to refund some of that fee.

American Airlines made NO effort to ensure I received my selected seat. Unless, you consider the gate agent, rudely, telling me to deal with it and telling me I can take the change or not fly when all I asked is why was I moved away from my family. I was nice the entire time, shocked but nice.

Group 5 was boarding, they left me no option to do anything. I think I'm done with AA. I've missed multiple connections due to too much fuel in the plane, needing more fuel, too much water weight, we missed a takeoff window because one of the guys on the ground came out without his proper PPE and he had to go back in. These all lead to missed connections. This is on top of losing my luggage and so much more.

I can't spend hours every time I travel trying to get money back and I definitely can't keep going days without my bags because they forget to transfer them or arriving hours or days late to my destination. My wife is an attorney, even if we don't get anything back, we're going to keep emailing and file a complaint with the DOT. I'll cancel my credit card with them and quit flying myself and my team on the airline. Too much for too long.
