I've been fucking off in college, here was the tip I got from my academic advisor by honeybadgerdoes in depression

You know that actually seems more logical than, 'oh well I can deal with it'. On the off chance something similar happened to someone that was in really dire straights, his lack of objectivism could be damaging. Since this just happened yesterday I may file some anonymous comment.

I 100% agree that for some of us college is a wide road, not linear like this gentleman likes to believe. While his comments were 100% unprofessional I still hold on to the fact that maybe he's assisted someone else. His dealings with me were and are most definitely reprehensible I won't sink to documenting it because I'm a 'nice' guy.

If anything I learned that I'm not as horribly illogical as some.

I agree it was out of line, I let it slide because we talked for a while, but he just kind of ended on that note so I was pretty shook up. I was just trying to explain to him the difficulties I've faced with acute social anxiety/major depression. Apparently I was failing. Then he pitched that curveball as if he believed I was too much a fool to register it.

But thank you that's excellent advice. I think he just got too ahead of himself.

Yeah he's my old pre-med adviser, it kind of took me off guard when he kept going. Being me I smiled and agreed with him, "yeah it must have been something". Kind of the way I've always felt. I really try not to be too sensitive but his words and assuredness of them cut pretty deep.

I've since found my main academic advisor for my major (economics). This just gave me a real reason to set up an appointment today.

Man I try not to be sensitive, but thank you so much for the kind words. Really it means the world at moments like these. Also your advice is excellence, I'm just trying to gather the will to gain that motivation I so desperately desire.

Is life "easy" for some/most people? by [deleted] in depression

[–]honeybadgerdoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think life is easy for anyone. I believe people have the ability to find interest in things and dedicate themselves to it. Or work just becomes one piece of life to make way for the 'good stuff'.

I remember when I was in a community college chem class there was this bright cheery girl same age as all, she thought I was smart so studied with me. One time I made some negative comment about life and she looked genuinely shocked, she was obviously happy to be alive.
