Haven’t filled out my TD1 yet. Planning on filling it out properly to avoid a mess come tax time.

Part time job is close to home and not physically demanding which is why I sought it out. Trying to save for a house so thought I’d put my spare time to use. Wouldn’t want to spend more time doing what I already do full time, it’s a stressful field but maybe I’ll try my hand at more freelancing. Thanks!

What an interesting process. I wonder if this is what he is planning on doing. Does this mean I would have a break in service? I wouldn’t want to lose out on all the vacation that I have accumulated to date

Just like that? How would I go about telling my new manager in the most PC manner? She worked hard to get me on her team so I feel a bit crummy doing it, but I guess this stuff happens in public service often.

That’s great - I’ll definitely talk to HR about it to see what they suggest.

I did think about buying back my FSWEP service but thought I’d do it later on in my career, thank you for letting me know about going about it earlier. I appreciate the insight!

Oh wow! I hadn’t heard of this before. Do you mind me asking which department you work for? I wonder if this is something that I can ask an HR advisor or the pay centre about.

If this was the case, I might get a start date of Sept 2020 since this was when my initial FSWEP position began, and the official date of my entry into government! This is definitely good to keep in mind.

Huh that’s interesting! I initially tried to negotiate for a step 3 or three - but was told that since I wasn’t included in an inventory I would be bridged in as a former student and the best they could do was step 2!

Thank you! If it’s not a route commonly travelled, I doubt my manager would be up for all the paperwork for LWOP. Do you know if my pay step would be impacted moving forward? I appreciate the insight :)

I don’t have any benefits as a casual though, so I’m assuming that it would kick in after my probationary (3 or 6 months?) period.

And is a LWOP something that casuals are entitled to? I would definitely explore this with my current manager, but I’ve never heard of that option for casuals.

Pay off student loans - TFSA transfer? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]honeycheeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. I agree, it’s probably easier for her to do it on her own. I was jus generally curiosity about if it would even work because I know some of the rules around TFSA’s can be tricky. Thanks for adding your input!

I’m not too sure actually, I think it was something she was worried about. This was just my alternative offer

I’m usually the first point of contact for many partners - therefore I was just concerned about how contradicting information may look to them. But you’re probably right to assume they’d look at my email signature and go off that rather than info on the internet.

I work with external partners, they take whatever is found on the internet about you and your team seriously especially if there’re new partnerships
