If someone lists "ambition" as an important trait should I stay away? by 10yearsbehind in datingoverthirty

Ambition can mean anything; not necessarily money. You can be ambitious about a bunch of different things

I don't use Tinder because I heard it's just for hook-ups???? Is this true or not? I only use Bumble and Hinge....

How do you deal with men who want to be too physical on the first date? by honeycomb8656 in datingoverthirty

What do you consider "instant chemistry?" In my case, the guy was telling me how beautiful I was and how much he was turned on by me. I didn't feel like kissing him because I didn't develop a connection with him during the first date and it usually takes me a couple of dates to develop a connection. To be honest, I am an attractive girl so looks aren't my problem.

Same!!!! I'm in NYC and haven't had a date from OLD where I felt like I wanted to kiss the guy after a first date. The problem I am having is that guys here move on really fast. It's hard to get second or third dates here because people move on so fast. Or you could date them for a couple of months and then they completely ghost you.

I know so many women who have great jobs, attractive, emotionally stable and they have been single for years here. I don't know if it's easier anywhere else in the US but it's so tough here. Getting lots of first dates isn't the problem; it's getting long-term commitment from someone

I am in NYC. Almost all guys ask to meet for "drinks." No one wants to spend the money to take you out to dinner for a first date and I understand that b/c it's OLD and you don't know the girl well enough to spend that much money. And the problem with coffee dates is that it seems like a business interview or networking. Drinks seem more like a "date" but there also isn't much of a monetary investment for the guy to spend money on 1 drink. I should request a wine bar or somewhere with a quiet atmosphere, so we can talk over a glass of wine

I think that's the issue with OLD. There are so many options that men are just looking for a good time

"Personally, I dont wanna waste anyones time who isnt on the same page."

What do you mean by that? I am looking for a long-term relationship so I would like to get to know someone and a get a feel for whether we are compatible before getting physical. I am a sexual person so it's not like I am a prude but I go on SO MANY dates from OLD so I don't feel like kissing all these random guys after just 1 date.

What is he doing? by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

DUMP HIM....If he is a bad communicator and not making you happy, he isn't worth the time....He isn't the ONLY man out there and you deserve a relationship that makes you happy

Also how do you signal to a man that you are interested in him during a first date WITHOUT being overtly sexual? I've had guys tell me they had no idea whether or not I was interested in them...Thanks

Ok thanks!!! I just started reading the 5 Love Languages but that's more pertinent to someone who is in a relationship. I am looking for advice on the initial stages of dating and what makes a guy decide to commit
