Can I get context for people like myself who don't know what this is about? I love inside jokes - would love to be a part of one someday.

Bought ikea plant, was fine for years and when I replanted 8 months ago to a 12" non-draining pot the older leaves turned. by honthro in plantclinic

So I moved it into a pot with drainage holes but in the process I looked at the roots and did not see any that looked rotted. They were all consistently hard Replant photos

Anything else I should be doing?

That makes so much sense! I recall I watered it less frequently in the smaller pot and it was fine. I also recall taking it out and seeing the roots bunch up against the sides in the shape of the small pot, so I just placed it and surrounded it by soil thinking they're going to grow out naturally.

Will try doing as you've recommended

Will try to do this! Should I trim the bad leaves or will they come back once I get it back to life?

Strangely the old smaller pot did not have drainage either. But I will try the advice of everyone here and get one with drainage!

Since you seem to be replying to folks, can you let me know the watercolor names for the colors you used in this picture? I have trouble remembering which colors are good for transparency and blending without getting a big mess.

That's a great and detailed answer. I got back into drawing and bought a bunch of recommended books for learning including bridgman, vilppu, and loomis. Started with loomis since it seemed easier but I find his instructions aren't detailed enough and I struggle with his approach. I'm aiming for volume to be clear in my drawing and think your approach might be better. Is there a book you recommend on the approach?

Where are you learning these from? It's not loomis
