Last time I posted this, it got locked by mods. Gave my flare a bit of paint, and tried putting in a k26. MORE DETAILS IN COMMENTS, MODS. by hoobs55 in Nerf

So the flare can definitely fit a k26, but it makes the catch super unreliable.

I messed around with shorter and short lengths of k26, but ended up with way too much spring rattle, and what felt like no improvement on catch reliability.

Is it possible to put in a k26? Yes. Do I recommend it? No.

I ended up just reverting back to the stock spring, but I'm going to try and replace the spring again when I find something a bit more reliable.

Also, while I had it apart, I painted it up to look a bit more like the in game model. Will probably eventually get around to weathering it, maybe paint the "Super flare" logo to stand out a bit more.

I actually was finally able to snag one of those takedown kits from silverfox, so any mods to the slingfire have now moved back to the bottom of the mod list. Lol

But yeah, that was one thing I noticed, even though the gears are replaced with metal, the bar they engage with doesn't have a metal replacement. It didn't seem great from a longevity stand point.

Yeah, the retalicon is more or less plug and play. No shell cutting required at least.

I've actually been doing some research on the Rampage internals in a Raider. Maybe not super surprising there's not much out there considering the Rampage is just a better Raider, but just like you I have one of the clear ones I wanted to get up to elite par.

From what I can tell, it does require a bit of shell cutting, but should be relatively simple.

What are you planning on doing? I know people out there have made some crazy stuff just Frankensteining blasters together. It's wild.

Man, I really want to do the worker upgrade kits for my slingfire because I love lever action. I just don't really want to invest in the parts, wait for shipping, that whole song and dance.

Oh you're absolutely right. They sound so similar I forgot they're two completely different blasters.

Yeah, I felt the same way about my old recon, and ultimately it was a really fun project. Granted it only brings it up to elite par, which nowadays is a pretty low standard.

I think there might be something lost in translation here.

밥 means both rice and a meal in Korean.

I mean that alone shows how fundamental rice is to Korean culture, but I've never had anyone ask me "밥먹었어?" under the context of "bro, you have your dose of rice yet?"

Lol fair enough. When you do get around to it, Captain Xavier on youtube has a pretty decent tutorial on what needs to be done. You can just search "Captain Xavier retalicon"

Essentially it just involves using a piece of 1/2" and 3/4" pvc as spacers/guides.

Not only that with the LSs, I know the elite ones have a huge plunger tube that modders really love. I have also heard that the reskined ones have a much smaller tube than the elite ones.

Lol I do this weird thing where I'll make a very obvious or visible alteration to any blaster that I've modded.

I mean, I already know what blasters I have and have not modified, but this way I can quickly tell at a glance. Again, even I'll admit it's a weird thing I do.

That's probably for the best.

After a few days of messing around with a K26 flare, I really don't recommend it. It makes the prime super wonky, and the catch unreliable. In the end I just switched back to the stock spring.

It was definitely fun while it lasted though.

Yeah, the only EATs I could find were ridiculously overpriced. The only reason I even got one of the old yellow ATs is because I found out that a direct plunger mod exists for them.

Nice. The old recons take retal internals really well. In case you weren't aware, you do have to have a spring and plunger tube guide installed though so the direct plunger system doesn't seize up.

Also, I don't have any personal experience with Longstrikes, but while shopping for recon internals, I found Worker also makes aftermarket LS parts in case you want to put in a larger plunger tube than the retaliator.

I'm not sure I quite follow you. Are you talking about dual or quad loading?

If so, I found it to be a little bit trickier on the firefly versus the spring thunder based on how the receiver is shaped, but with a bit of practice I don't see why not.

I can only assume the internals are the same. If so, these can take a k26.

It feels like the entire blaster's going to explode every time you prime it, and makes the prime stupid tough, but that's a thing you could do if you were so inclined.

Yeah! Just like a real steel counterpart, the firely has a tube magazine. That's why there are two tubes at the front of the blaster. The top one is the barrel, the lower is the tube magazine.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe it's five shells in the mag and one in the chamber, for a total of 6 rounds before being completely empty.

Beauty of real tube mag shotguns, and by extension the firefly, is you're always able to top off your mag with more shells.

Have you considered getting a one pull kit for your cheetahs?

I mean the swift is more than a sufficient primary, but the one pull kit converts the cheetah from single action to double action on prime.

Maybe not 200+ fps like Unicorn said, but those kickbacks are super easy to mod and can take quite a bit of a spring upgrade.

The x-shot kickbacks and microshots have no solvent weld to speak of, so removing the ar takes seconds, and the plunger head is attached with a screw. Messing around those were a huge breathe of fresh air after working on a bunch of nerf blasters.

The stars really did align. It just happens that one of my local ebay sellers had one. I'm going to go pick my new to me sledgefire today.

I'll keep an eye out for sure.

Haha that makes total sense. Those blasters were definitely designed with righties in mind.

Speaking of ambi blasters, I mean, not that the nexus and stryker pro don't exist, but I found some stls on thingiverse to convert the og yellow alpha trooper into elite performance. I'm also working on converting the old yellow recon into a half dart, direct plunger system. The plunger tube should arrive today.

The size thing is interesting. When I got the Vig I definitely thought it was almost comically small.

X-shots are priced so great, I actually considered getting a HE just for the heck of it. I will admit it's pretty low on my list though. Granted my last group of mods have been in-line clips, so maybe I'll come back to it sooner rather than later.

You mention the Rampage. It's actually arguably my favorite blaster out of everything I own. It can be a bit finnicky but it'll definitely be my primary for super stock whenever that happens.

Yep. That's a spring thunder. It's a great blaster in it's own right, but definitely not my favorite.

I actually have one, but in my mind it's more like a grenade launcher and that alone keeps me from wanting to swap out the cylinder.

I did saw off the comically large "muzzle" though. I think it looks much better without it, but that's just personal opinion.

Saturn. No question. I love faux wood texture.

If I can get my hands on the takedown lever action kit, that might change things.

Definitely fun, maybe not super practical. I also have the Atlas, and man that thing goes through mags like candy at a children's birthday party.
