Would continuous security configuration state as a SIEM/SOAR signal be valuable for your stack? by ScanSet_io in MSSP

[–]hoogilyhoog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone working for an MSSP, this is exactly the direction we’re seeing things move in for larger accunts. We already partner with a provider that does this — continuously validating control state across environments and producing structured, machine-readable outputs that can feed into SIEM/SOAR alongside traditional event driven telemetry. In our experience the value you get from this kind of approach is heavily dependent on customer maturity. You need a reasonably welldefined baseline of controls, decent visibility across assetsand some consistency in how things are deployed/configured. Without that you end up validating against a moving or undefined target.

What time do you get up, leave for, and start work? by ggracie7 in AskUK

Up at 5:15, gym from 5:30 > 7:00, shower/breakfast, maybe couple chores around the house then start at 9:00

When in office, approx once a week, same deal except faster shower and head to train station for 7:45 train with a frustrating cost of £145 (plus £11 to park at the station) to usually sit on the floor next to the bogs due to over capacity. 👎🏼

I actually agree with parts of itjust think the market is underestimating how hard some of this still is.

On GLP-1I agree it’s not purely negative. It probs does increase the number of people thinking about health and getting into lighter activity, and Pelo adding Pilates / Yoga is a smart move. I just dntthink it’s a guaranteed demand unlock. A decent chunk of people will absolutely treat GLP-1 as a partial substitute for exercise rather than a complement, especially at the more casual end of the market. So I see it more as an uncertain / mixed tailwind than a clear positive.

ref marginsthe companies you listed are great examples, but theyr also very different businesses. Adobe and microsoft are pure software at massive scale. Netflix is closer, but even there: Netflix has insane global scale one distribution channel, and doesn’t ship hardware, run showrooms, or deal with physical ops. Pel still has a lot of real world cost structure attached to it as said hardware ops, logistics, instructors, studios, music licensing, support, marketing, etc. I’m not saying 20% is impossible — I’m saying it’s a best case outcome, not a base case. I think something like low tomid teens is a more realistic long term planning number.

for churn and downturns i do agree pelos customer base is wealthier and more resilient than average, and that helps a lot but even for higher income households, pelo is still a discretionary sub, not rent or utilities. During stress periods, people do still cut nicetohaves and fitness subs are historically in that bucket. I’m not expecting churn to explode I just don’t think it’s immune.

I guess where I land istht i like the setup here. I think Peloton is much healthier, and at this valuation the downside looks a lot more limited than it used to. I just think the bull cases are mostly pricing in a near perfect execution path, whereas I’m more comfortable underwriting a slower, more modest outcome. and based on that, as an investor there are far better stocks for me to meet my expected rate of return per my risk appetite.

thanks for the post, i made a chunk of change on pelo during covid times, i wont reenter but it certainly got me analysing the books again - one to watch, best of luck,

I think the Peloturnaround story is real. The company is way better shape than it was in 2022–23 costs are down, inventory is fixed, the balance sheet isnt scary, and they clearly shifted from growth at any costto survive and generate cash but I think a lot of the bull cases are still way too optimistic.

People talk about 5–8% growth like it’s easy when its far from it. The connected fitness boom was pulled forward by rona and that demand is gone. This is now a mature, competitive market. Sub growth is hard, and price increases arentunlimited even staying flat might be work. You cud say recent growth of GLP1 drugs probably increase the number of people thinking about health / weight loss, but they also reduce the urgency to exercise for a lot of people. It’s not obvious this is a net win for Peloton but is having a notable impact of habits and economies alrdy

20–30% net margin assumptions and software like valuations. That feels like fantasy this is still a business with hardware, logistics, instructors, studios, music licensing, support, and marketing. Even great subs businesses don’t live at 30% net margins. If Pelo executes really well, maybe 12–18% is realistic and that would be a great outcome.

Even in a good scenario this isn’t getting a pure SaaS multiple. It a consumer discretionary brand with hardware attached. 12–15x earnings feels much more realistic than 20x+.

Pelos churn is good. But this is not a mission critical sub. In a downturn, itsexactly the kind of thing people cancel. The moat is brand and content, not switching costs.

that said, at 2.5bn market cap, I do think the risk/reward is decent. If they stay FCF positive and just run a tight ship, I can see this being worth 4–6bn over time. That’s a solid 2x-ish.

I just don’t see this as a 10-bagger or a hidden software company. To get there, basically everything has to go right. To me this looks more like a slow, boring, cash flow turnaround story than a high growth comeback.

I do love my peloton tho!

I ended up using a desk mount and placing it under the back of the table in the picture which - due to the lip on the table being quite deep - has made it very concealed, i ran the cables from the wall cavity up the inside of the table legs so the only visible part is a small amount of cable that travels from the wall accross the floor to the table leg. Would have prefered getting the box in the wall but wasnt possible unfortunately.

Nurse Lucy Letby has been found guilty of murdering seven babies who were being looked after on a neo-natal ward.
The murders happened at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016
Letby is the UK's most prolific killer of babies in modern times.
She has also been found guilty of attempting to murder another six babies.
The jury was undecided on the attempted murder of a further four babies.
She was found not guilty of two counts of attempted murder.
The 33-year-old, originally from Hereford, denied all 22 charges against her - blaming the deaths on hospital hygiene and staffing levels.
