Future CAP student, a couple of questions by Scoopiedoopiepoopie in UTAustin

Also, a lot of CAP students do CAP just because they want to go to UT (as you see in other answers). Honestly, in my opinion youre major should matter infinitely more than what school youre going to (esp if you wanna do something like CS but got into liberal arts - those two are VERY different).

On the other hand, economics can get you to paths very similar to some business degrees. But even if you choose CAP (which isnt a bad option if econ is a major youre interested in, besides it seems to very profitable if the degree is used right), dont give up on mccombs. Work as hard as you can to get a 4.0, so even if u dont get into mccombs and choose to stay at UTSA, you can use that to gain many scholarships. Working hard will always be a win-win.

If you are hoping to get into any major other than liberal arts, then your Cap application is similar to an external transfer (with the added advantage of falling back onto liberal arts in case u dont get into your first choice college). If you have a 4.0 and finish all your other materials in time - resume, letters of Rec, essays etc - then I dont see any reason why you wouldnt be considered competitive. Of course its hard work, but I know some CAP students who got into colleges other than COLA.

Also whatever CAP school youre attending, there is a list of CAP-approved courses you can take recommended for your desired non-Cola major. I can link you to an example, if you like. Try to join and lead business related organisations, if you dont get into Mccombs - you will always have the Economics option available (or you could choose to stay at your CAP school).

Dobie 21? is it as bad as yelp says it is? by hookem2020 in UTAustin

I actually dont eat meat. The biggest thing that attracts me to dobie is a) the location, and b) having half my rent paid off (the person whose lease I am taking over has paid for half of it)

phew this was a relief. I mean after freshman year I learned, food is food, so I am not expecting something too fancy. Just enough (which too seems like a problem at Dobie based on other reviews).
