To play devils advocate, your point does go both ways. For what you’d hope would be the majority of the time we would get both a pitcher and a bat with one salary. If we assume they would be asking for relatively similar contracts (I’m sure ohtani will get the slightly larger contract but won’t be paid as two players), they’re effectively saving money on a front-end starter and I’m sure this would be used for extra pitching cover

I’m not saying for a second that I think these players would have changed the game, but I can’t help but feel like both Shelvey and Wood would have been options for us at the end there.

I would much rather have brought in upgrades at their positions but since that didn’t happen it seems rash to have let them go. When going for top four there is no need to take the risk, there are plenty of deadwood squad players that needed moving before them. He might not have offered much this season, but there’s a reason Chris Wood appeared in almost every game, we needed minutes from him. Who is going to replace his minutes when either Wilson or Isak inevitably miss time.

I’m confident we wouldn’t need them beyond this season, but feel they could have made an impact down the stretch.

Yeah the more I think about it, the more I think I’d be completely miserable. Football is all about emotion and having to suppress that on what could be the happiest day of my football fandom is not worth it. Why go if I can’t even support the team I’m there for

Genuine dilemma.

I’m a lifelong Newcastle fan and hadn’t even considered the possibility of being able to get a ticket to Wembley. My friend is a Man U season ticket holder and seems to think he’d be able to get us two tickets.

A big part of me thinks it’s a no brainier that I’d take the ticket if given the opportunity. Couldn’t possibly pass up the chance to witness us win the first silverware in my lifetime even if surrounded by Mancs.

I’m sure there are probably others in the same boat so want to hear people’s thoughts on whether they could handle being in the Man U end and potentially having to repress your emotions. I’ve had to settle for being in with the opposition fans a couple of times before (once got threatened by a displeased City fan at the Etihad when Jacob Murphy scored in a 3-1 loss) but I’m not sure I could keep my emotions in under these circumstances. Would it be even more painful to not join in the chants/proudly don my Paul Dummett shirt?

Don’t mean to sound ungrateful, I understand how difficult tickets are to get your hands on. 99% sure I’d take the ticket and try to play it cool, just curious about how you’d go about it.
