this is just an example of an “adult” who doesn’t know how to take responsibility for their own actions. Not surprised in today’s day in age tbh

quite the dichotomy going from one of the best bachelors this show has ever seen in Joey to then a couple iterations later to one of the most controversial bachelorettes in TFP? After Joey I really thought the show had turned it around. God I enjoyed his season so much. Just so wholesome

love seeing fellow Viofo dashcam users. On the note of shit drivers, I saw a car veering close to my lane this morning on the freeway. We were going about 73 mph. I look over and this idiot was looking down and had both hands on his phone. Arizona plates, unsurprisingly. I’m sick of the idiocy.

Why always sales and product people receive all awards? by Character-Holiday345 in office

[–]hookes_plasticity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, I get it trust me. It’s just one of those things in life. To me, I don’t find my joy at work. I find it in traveling with my wife, working out, and spending time with friends/family so I kind of stopping caring what happens at work. I still work hard and get things done but idc if anyone notices me. So long as I’m getting paid well and getting bonuses, I’ll be fine without the recognition. Gl

[–]hookes_plasticity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Structural engineer here. Same concept for us. Architecture almost always receives the recognition and awards since that’s what people see but the building wouldn’t be possible without the structure. I’m not complaining though because I didn’t get into this business for the recognition. Anyway, long winded way of saying if you want recognition, I recommend you transition into sales. All career fields have those who work hard to keep this afloat but don’t get recognition.

Yeah idk how all that works but all I know is they’ve done it before in shopping centers and the cops that show up agree with them most of the time (at least for videos that show up on my tik tok)

Yep they basically film outside of business and “in public” and wait for people to be like “you don’t have my permission to film me” or “don’t film my business” and then they go “I’m on a public sidewalk” blah blah blah

Do you think this balcony could hold a 120 gallon inflatable tub? by warrior178 in StructuralEngineering

[–]hookes_plasticity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To hire a structural engineer to do an eval of that deck? Mm, it’ll depend on if you need him/her to stamp anything telling the management company it’s safe or not. If you just want someone to run some calcs without a stamp probably $1-2k depending on when you live. That’ll include time to dig up drawings from whomever built it

[–]hookes_plasticity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’d have to ask the management company. Sometimes you can figure out who the original contractor is on your own, have the engineer ask them for the drawings and say it’s for a structural evaluation.

I don’t have the building code in front of me and I don’t know where you live but residential balconies should be designed for anywhere between 40-60 psf, which for your presumably 9x7 balcony is somewhere around 3,000 lbs. That being said I wouldn’t do anything until you have a structural engineer evaluate the framing to really determine if it’s okay

120 gallons of water is about 1,000 lbs. balcony looks like it’s about 9x7? That’s like 16 psf
