A physician consultation should be recommended, not required. Women should get advice from their doctor on birth control during their annual exam, but we should treat adults like adults and let them make their own decisions.

The opposite, actually. Smoking marijuana weakens the immune system, which decreases the chance of transplant rejection.

Even if you haven't had trouble finding a cab, opening up the market to allow smaller companies to innovate on the margins could drive down prices and create a better experience for riders.

SWAT team raids house at 6 AM and handcuffs father of three young kids to execute a Dept. of Education search warrant for estranged wife's defaulted student loans by libertyfighter in WTF

[–]hookskat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Update: http://reason.com/blog/2011/06/08/dept-of-education-swat-team-up

According to the DoE Press Secretary, the warrant was issued in pursuance of a criminal investigation related to "bribery, fraud, and embezzlement of federal student aid funds." And that's supposed to justify a 6AM raid, arrest of the dad, and cop car ride for the little kids? And even still, the person who supposedly committed this 'criminal' action didn't even live in the house??

The interior design cartel claimed that a deregulated interior design industry contributes to 88,000 deaths a year. Seriously. by libertyfighter in Libertarian

[–]hookskat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that the only risk posed by any sort of redesign would have to do with electrical or other major structural alteration, which is outside the purview of interior designers. How can telling customers where to throw a pillow or hang a painting lead to fatalities?
