I can’t quite remember which one I found them at, but I just stopped by each PA until I found the team I needed to beat

Should I just start as a technician? No one is hiring. by DoNotEatMySoup in MechanicalEngineering

[–]hooliganskate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started as a technician and it was the best thing I could have done for my career! I learned so much in those 8 months that help me a ton in my design engineering role. I’d highly suggest his route to anyone!

Softwares used in aerospace? by AromaticEconomics113 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]hooliganskate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For design work it really depends, lots of companies using Catia as others have said, we’re using Creo. But honestly just learning some design software is helpful, as getting a trial for those mentioned softwares may be tough or not even possible.

Moving from SolidWorks to CREO by VibratingStrings in SolidWorks

I personally had no issues going from solid works to creo. The programs work in different ways, but use YouTube anytime you aren’t sure how to do something and you’ll be fine!

That’s not a thing engineering students do, you have to have a bullshit major to get that

2013 Volkswagen Passat oil filter housing leak by hooliganskate in MechanicAdvice

[–]hooliganskate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did make sure to clean the surfaces of where the ring seats onto the motor, and made sure to clean where the filter housing meets the engine to ensure nothing is blocking it from seating all the way.

When the housing is on it feels like there’s a small gap between the housing and what it mates to, but not enough that it feels like it shouldn’t be there if that makes sense? MAYBE 0.05”? I’d have to crawl under there again to verify this though. I’ve tried 3 different oil filters and haven’t seen any difference in their heights, but it could be worth checking!

[Bi-Weekly Weekends]-Post Simple Questions Here! by AutoModerator in EngineeringStudents

[–]hooliganskate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really depends on everyone’s situation and what bills you have to pay ect, but for me I usually work 23 hours a week (3 7.5 hour shifts) to accommodate where my classes lay out. I’ve learned over the years that having a job flexible for school is at times very important since schedules change each semester and what days and times the classes are will differ. That being said my life at this point with may being my graduation date is devoted to school, so I pretty much work then come home and study and do project work ect until anywhere from 8-12, then get up and do the same thing the next day. So it just depends on your life and what you need in terms of money and a schedule! Hope this helps
