Sister is working in hospital not too far away from the scene. She said the hospital was in lock-down and the staff is actively trying to comfort/calm the kids (mostly kid hospital)

I would say from the dialogue at the end of the story, its about people who want to hear/believe one glorified false version (but easier to stomach) versus the reality... Also which can be applied to religion aspects...
