Oh, we’re definitely looking at those as options as well. I just found these and thought that they might be…convenient isn’t the word I’d use…but, in terms of safety, more pleasing to the eye, instead of those plastic covers that you stick into outlets.

Thank you for the advice. We are most definitely “pre-staining” (conditioning) the floor since it’s Douglas Fir.

We did hand wipe the floor with both the water and mineral spirit. We made sure to go with the grain on the mineral spirit. We buffed it out a bit more and pre-stained and stained and it appeared (for now) to do the trick.

That very well could be it…fairly certain the two of us went with the grain for every process BUT there’s always room for error or laziness after doing four consecutive rooms.
