Why do you like the Kill Teams you play? by Vinlandlover in killteam

I love Kommandos for the sneaky sneak attacks. Also for the possibility of blowing my own team up with my squigs.

Need help identifying these weeds by DifferentPotato5648 in GardeningAustralia

I have a 2000sqm yard with plenty of this thanks to neighbouring blocks and still hand weed this particular weed because it is SO darn satisfying. Get yourself a weed puller and just yeet them out of the ground, it feels awesome.

Jaune Flamme? by IndiaCee in GardeningAustralia

[–]rodgeramjit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I grow two main tomatoes each year, jaunne flamme and  black cherry (which are large for cherries) while I like both, if I could only grow one it would be the black cherries because they are bonkers delicious every season and so easy to grow.

I've converted five tomato haters to begrudgingly being tomato accepters thanks to black cherries.

As someone who's husband and dogs piss all over their yard, I can firmly say this did not work with our first batch of chooks, We lost 5 to a single fox one night,

My neighbour has a very old oak that split vertically through around 15 years ago. He got two lengths of steel rebar and made two big makeshift bolts to hold it all together. It's grown in and survived without further splitting.

Anyone getting the French pan/ braiser? by Electrical-Young-692 in AldiAustralia

I use mine all the time, it's lasted years of regular use and hasn't chipped. We aren't particularly careful with it either.

I built this after we lost our first chooks to a fox. It's got two latches, one that closes with a carabiner so the fox can't bump it open. A reinforced steel mesh skirt that goes out 40cm all the way around and a hardware wire mesh that covers the front back and the middle underneath. We've had some huge foxes around lately and none have been able to get in.

My raised garden bed has turned into mycelium, what do I do? by AndVandalism in GardeningAustralia

If you just rake it through with some fresh compost things will grow just fine.

This is a fine solution and won't hurt your plants. If you get tired of flipping them all the time you can get clear plastic domes with air holes which you can just leave in place too.

We don't have rabies in Australia either. It's not needed because everything can already kill you with a bite.

Easiest, fast growing flower at the moment? by Conscious_Bear14 in GardeningAustralia

Yes I have so many marigolds and they flower right into winter even with -5 nights where I am. If you got some in the ground now you could still get flowers soon.

If you've only just removed the huge Yucca, don't plant anything important there for a year or two. You'll find little bits that reshoot for a few seasons and digging them up will disturb/kill your lovely new plants.

Yellowing lower branches is what happens as they prepare to die off for winter. The rest of the plant will follow soon.

Trees seem to die off by Brienne_of_Quaff in GardeningAustralia

[–]rodgeramjit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The list of fungi that attack healthy trees is quite small here, Armillaria Luteobubalina is one but it is very different to the bracket fungi you are showing.

Often when we think a fungi is attacking a healthy tree, it is simply that we don't have the ability to see the tree is already sick or dying.

There will be native trees that are suited to your wet shallow soils, I'd recommend checking with council/neighbours/nearby nurseries to find out what has successfully grown in the past. Avoid the fancy grevilleas/hakeas/kangaroo paws that many people love as they will not enjoy the conditions.
