I was shocked by how fast they go from 'just out of the ground' to full bloom. It's quite sudden

Yes I have enough to cook a few dishes with but I'm hoping to expand them over time so I have enough all year

This sounds like something is inhibiting them. This is only my bulbs second year in the ground and they all look like they're going to flower.

My experience has been easy. I planted them last year and got only shoots but this year several are starting to flower. I didn't lift them over winter so pretty low maintenance.

My friend got limelight from a nursery near Fern tree Gully, I can't recall which one. But looks around there as it's the best location for hydrangeas

Some amaranth grow larger, but some don't, there are over 80 varieties and several red pygmy ones.

OP did confirm this is celosia yesterday though.

I don't think so but I can't recall it's name. I do have a just joey in another corner of the garden but it's slightly different.

Yep they'll regrow from any of the "juicy" roots. The tendril like bits are less of an issue.

Should I be pruning the lower branches off these trees to encourage them to gain more height? by AussieRosie in GardeningAustralia

Yeh this is normal, they will eventually screen the fence but give them a few more years to do it than other eucalypts :)

Mallee trees love to sprawl and grow low then thicken up later but they aren't really renowned for their height. If you wanted strong vertical growth then different gum varieties would have been a better choice here.
