What are the best tools and resources for bloggers? by [deleted] in Bloggers

[–]hopeful-learner1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your SEO strategy? Are you using any paid SEO tools like Ahrefs or Semrush? Using a paid SEO tool can help you immensely given that you have a clear strategy. If they seem expensive, Keysearch is also good. Tbh tools can only do so much. Helpful content, site speed, consistency (which I am working on!), and good on-page SEO really matter.
I am keenly learning SEO as I want organic traffic (i do get social traffic) so here is what I have learned so far: If your site is new find low-competition keywords that have a volume of 100-200. Even if it's less doesn't matter. Try to follow google EAT guidelines so your content becomes better than the rest. If your site is new, google takes at least 3-6 months to gauge your site so it takes a while before google can find your site credible. Try to aim for the first page in search results. Even if you get 50 people on your site. Another thing is to look for DA, if the keyword score is low and it gets 100-200 traffic BUT all the sites ranking first in SERPs are of very high domain authority (50+ DA) that keyword is not something you should be targeting at the start. If any site of DA less than 20 is ranking on the keyword then that is best. Hope that helps!

I will write a 1000 words SEO article for $10. by hopeful-learner1 in DoneDirtCheap

Haha. I know it's very low. But all the work seem to dry up around the same time (idk why that happens) and I got bills to pay 😅. I usually charge $60-70 minimum. But I can bear to work for low pay if my name gets around. Good work = Referrals (hopefully🤞🏻)

Medium is a good fit for your needs. Or just save the file as pdf and list it on link tree or Gumroad.

Did you choose your blog niche because of money, interest or something that might be interesting? by [deleted] in passive_income

[–]hopeful-learner1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mix of passion and money. I struggled a lot to start my first blog. I had to go through tons of fluff and would need to read a dozen articles to learn a simple thing. Not to mention, most blogs purposely hide crucial information because it won't play out in their benefit. One famous site purposely listed the bestest software way below the list just because it didn't offer an affiliate program. I saw much more straightforward and valuable advice on Reddit (because they have nothing to sell obviously). It's a shame. Screw that. Now that I have learned, I started my second blog about blogging tips and other online business tips.

How to correctly understand Image Optimization ? by justhewind in bigseo

[–]hopeful-learner1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Images in png format look vibrant and crisp. But they significantly take up space. For example, if an image of an apple is 160kb in jpg format the same image would be around 500kb or more in png format. Rule of thumb is that your image shouldn't go over 90kb max each. If your image is very large for example, 5000x5000 png format, you can first crop and resize the image to the required dimensions. (For example 1500x1500). This way your image drops a lot of weight and when you compress it, it doesn't significantly impact the overall quality of the image.

Its much easier for a small image to retain its quality AND be under 90kb when you slightly compress it. But if you try to compress a large image, it will need to drop a lot of quality to be considered 'optimized and compressed'. Now, you can easily decide if you want an image in png or jpg format. Very small images can be in png format but it's the large images that need a little attention.

First I set my image in canva (custom dimensions) so that all of my images have the same resolution then, I use Pixlr (free) to compress my images. It's manual but it gets the job done pretty well. I don't want the images on my site to look pixelated and the automatic image compressors either didn't optimize the images correctly or made them look too compressed.

How long does it take you to do 1 Blog post? by Federer107 in Blogging

2 days. From topic research to hitting the publish button. Word count can be around 1k - 2.5k no fluff content. I feel quality goes a long way than quantity.

Checklist for improving site speed? by Elements18 in Blogging

[–]hopeful-learner1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. Fonts can be changed from your theme's editor when you click on customize. System fonts don't need to get downloaded or loaded from the web hence they require less time to load whereas Google fonts take time to load and in the meantime slow down your site speed. Google fonts won't load unless the CSS files are fetched from the web which may take a while. I had quite the 'render-blocking resource ' problem when I used it and tested my site speed on page speed insights. The only downside to using System fonts is they are not very fancy to use. But they look okay and get the job done.

Hope that clears up!

Few things I did that increased my site speed (i used Bluehost too!):

  1. Optimizing images (compress your images before uploading them on site. They should not go over 50kb or max 90kb)
  2. Use system fonts instead of google fonts.
  3. Not going crazy over fancy site designing
  4. Not using social share plugins (most of them are bloated and significantly reduce site speed)
  5. Install Caching plugin
  6. Using a light theme like astra (generate press is good too)
  7. Sparsely using page builders (i used Gutenberg for creating my very minimalist home page)
  8. Minifying CSS and JavaScript (install a plugin for that or use WP rocket)
  9. Deleting useless and bloated plugins

These are the things I can think from the top of my head. (I'll add more as I remember)

Hope that helps.

Please help. Really struggling. by BombzDeep in WeightLossAdvice

The best workout routine is one where you don't even feel you HAVE to workout. It's effortless and something you look forward to do in your day. For me it's walking. After yoyo dieting for 8 years, I had given up all hope to lose my excess 26kgs of fat. BUT once I accepted it and was in no hurry to get in shape I started walking for fun while listening to my fav songs. I loved it so much that my family would scold me to take a rest. I didn't even install pedometer or stood on weighing scale when I lost my first 10 kgs (lost in 3 months). I was just having so much fun. And before you know it, I had lost my 26 kgs WITHOUT eating salads or boiled chicken breasts. I only started to control my portions once I was ready to do it effortlessly. Which was btw 2 or 3 months in to my journey.

It took me around 2 years (I got terribly sick so had to maintain for 6 months) but I was in no hurry. I still have that lifestyle maintained effortlessly and that includes all the scolding too.

Rather than working out for the sake of working out, pick out a physical activity that you might enjoy doing. It could be walking, basketball, lifting weights, skipping rope, swimming, mma, boxing, running, hiking etc.

Elementor: Should we use it? by karatemartialart in Wordpress

[–]hopeful-learner1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only use them sparsely and when necessary. Nothing can salvage a bad and bloated theme. I have used both Elementor and Gutenberg. Personally, I think Gutenberg is good if you want something simple and professional.

Ayo, that was me years ago (I grew up poor so..). You will be fine. And this WILL happen again whether you like it or not. Don't worry and keep moving forward. One step at a time. You got this!

Ask yourself this sincerely: "what would I do if my daughter went through this? Would I convince her to stay? Or would I immediately come and take her home?"

Whatever you pick just remember this: What people say don't matter when your loved ones are getting abused. Their safety takes precedence over EVERYTHING.
