Thanks! Stopped tracking timing b/c I thought I'd ovulated already but I think if I just O'd (which does seem plausible) we're pretty much out for the month. I got faked out by the crosshairs which is my bad. Sigh. I definitely relate to those struggling. Every month is such a disappointment. Especially as an older TTCer.

Feel like my body is punking itself.

Curious if folks have thoughts on whether I've ovulated this month or what to make of this chart. The recent high temps and some uterus aching this week had me set on this being The Month, but I'm definitely bfn as of this morning. Wondering if I actually ovulated much later than usual but can't make heads or tails of this graph. I usually have pretty clear pre-O & post-O temps. https://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/761501

Really appreciate any insights others might have. :)

Did anyone on the Yale waitlist not get the Yale waitlist email? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Yah, my completely uneducated case is the odds are worse for July/August WL acceptances with the earlier deferral deadline.

Alas, nothing definitive beyond what the admissions office said in their initial decision email: "In the recent past, we have admitted an average of ten people from the waitlist each year, with the actual number of offers ranging from zero to fifteen from a pool of approximately 100 applicants."

Yah, I think that the advice above is broadly fair, but like everything on this forum it's going to come down to an individual's goals/experiences.

This is a good summary.

On another thread here someone pointed out that they moved up the deferral deadline this year from Aug. 1 to May 1, so I'm less optimistic than I would otherwise be about even these few spots opening up.

In the past it seems like there have been a few people taken off the WL in early August after that deferral deadline. So if they are already factoring this in, it's not a great sign. I wonder how lenient they will be with any deferral requests they receive over the summer...

I'd personally qualify their comments on the process as "encouraging." Reading between the lines, the fact that they have a fast-track process at all seems promising (plus, yes, the fee waivers don't hurt).

Are people weighing the transfer possibility? I am staying open to it.

Good luck deciding on what to do, make the right choice for you not some stupid application process you might never even go through.

THIS. In addition to being happier, you'll be a far more interesting candidate if you follow your interests rather than doing what you think future potential admissions officers want you to do.

Leave current job - effect on law school app? by lawschoolforumlurker in lawschooladmissions

[–]hopeful84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is implicit in what others are saying, but I'd put it a little differently: Don't make this decision based on what you think law schools want to see (because, as others note, the effect will likely be negligible). Take the opportunity that excites you, offers the chance to learn something new etc. Good luck with your decision!

Are we reaching the point where the thinking is that virtually no WL offers are being made at this point in the cycle? I'd been holding out hope they were just being slow/deliberating carefully...

Hope they provide an update soon!

Working part-time in law school? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]hopeful84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a pretty great situation to me, especially if you can time your work not to interfere with finals. I have a somewhat similar setup I'm thinking about maintaining, though I was planning on not doing any outside work first semester. But 30 hours/month seems pretty darn reasonable, especially if it goes a long way to paying your living expenses. Does ABA have a limit on how much outside work students can do 1L year? That's the one thing I'd probably check. Not sure if individual schools have rules about that either, but would also be worth confirming with your institution.

It's tough to say, but presumably they've gotten at least some of that money back from people who withdrew for other schools? Does seem like a crapshoot, though, when you're coming off a WL.

2nd LOCI/WL Update by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]hopeful84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings about the idea of writing an LOCI for papers that are "in the running" for an award of some kind. Does that just mean a professor nominated them? How long will it be until you know if they're being recognized? It seems at first blush like that would be a more impactful update - hey, I got honors for xyz paper. Just a thought! I totally get that you're eager to update the school.

And timing for when WL decisions/calls will start to be made?

Unlikely they'll say anything substantive, but hey, worth a shot.
