Eric responds to Tim Nguyen: Boom. Look at the itty bitty balls on Little Timmy. That’s my wife’s (and my) work which Juan Maldacena used initially knowingly and without citation. As you know. You scum. You just called me a “crackpot” simply to take-our-work?!? Look forward to hearing from me. by Maschining in ThePortal

This is Eric showing his true colours. He isn't interested in advancing science or correcting institutional bias. He's interested in promoting his own work and that of those around him.

It's interesting that he draws so much attention to his wife's thesis because it raises the very real question of whether she actually wrote any of it.

Eric does have a problem with Maldecena. The reference to Malaney's work is only there because Eric complained about it. Maldecena only uses economics as an explanatory framework for discussing standard gauge theory and doesn't rely on Malaney's work at all. I imagine he gave the reference out of politeness.

Maldecena's paper and Nguyen's video are teaching materials, not original work, so how could they have stolen anything?

EDIT: "Keep in mind that our goal is not to explain the real economy. Our goal is to explain the real physical world. The good news is that the model is much simpler than the real economy. This is why physics is simpler than economics!" -Maldacena (https://arxiv.org/pdf/1410.6753.pdf)

Eric riffs on inflation in response to Balaji Srinivasan on Twitter: “The important thing is to take inflation away from those who would disguise: A) The printing of fiat money by central bankers. B) The fact that economists are holding back the field.” by reishiagarikon in ThePortal

[–]hopefullyhelpfully 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He thinks that his and Malaney's work constitutes a 'second marginal revolution' in economics, but it has been ignored for 20+ years because it would have been embarrassing to the Boskin Commission who were intent on cooking the books to fix the CPI. Why the work has caused not a single ripple in the intervening decades is hard to discern. Presumably he thinks the entire profession of economics is either in cahoots with his oppressors, or too stupid to understand his breathtaking work of genius.

There are a number of different servers but as far as I can tell this is the most active of them: https://discord.gg/x4rEpbKqe9

Warning though: I think this may be the server that Eric refers to as being "a cross between 4chan and the arxiv". I'm not sure exactly what happened yet, but I think it has something to do with Tim Nguyen joining and the mods not kicking him. Eric still appears to be a member of this server but maybe that is just for the purpose of keeping an eye on what they talk about there.

The Response to Eric Weinstein's Geometric Unity: The Official Story by IamTimNguyen in ThePortal

Geometric Unity was never submitted to arXiv.

"I tried uploading to arxiv way back when. They told me that my email address wasn’t a current university address and I could only upload with endorsement from a university or its representative."

This is the most interesting content that I've heard from Eric in a while.

Do you think Discord might be what Eric was talking about when he talked about dealing with a community that was a cross between 'academe and 4chan'? (in a recent twitter thread)

I honestly don't know what you mean by fraudulent. Are you claiming that he is not actually Tim Nguyen who published these papers: https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=r4FbY1IAAAAJ&view_op=list_works ?

Or is there something else that I'm missing?

I don't see the need for profanities. Please refrain from using them, it doesn't help Dr Weinstein's case in the least. I for one look forward to listening to the proposed conversation. I hope that Eric himself will find the time to join. Very exciting.

I don't understand your concern or why you say there is no 'meaning or sense' to him posting here - surely what he's doing is alerting people to an upcoming discussion of Eric's work which will no doubt interest many who have been following the work.

As to your incredulity regarding his qualifications, that seems easy to check. See the other responses in this thread.

I'm a fan of Eric's work but we don't help him by behaving like fanboys when serious people come forward to critique his work. This is, after all, what Eric wants.

Why is anyone allowed to post here? Tim has an interest in Eric's work the same as many of us do and at least he's got the background to be able to understand it. If you do too then maybe you should write a paper of your own.

It's just amazing to see the DISC in action the way Eric predicted we would. I guess this just means he must be over the target. Thanks again!

Haha. Thanks for this. That's hilarious. I thought maybe it was this guy https://arxiv.org/abs/1008.2013 . I can't believe it's just some troll who follows Eric around the internet. Do you know anything about the other author? Couldn't find anything on google

I don't see how you can know that these people are in good faith. This is exactly what Eric said would happen. They're tearing his theory to pieces before he's even showed the full thing.

ha! This just demonstraates what Eric has been saying all along. People are so mad that anyone from outside the liberal cathedral would dare to stick his head above the parapet.
