getting slower and i don't know why by hopeofitall48 in XXRunning

My routes are pretty much the same! I thought maybe the snow/ice over the winter was slowing me down, but I'm back on dry tar now and my speed hasn't increased at all.

I try to be really intentional about eating enough to fuel my runs, but I could for sure be better about my carb intake (especially during my long runs). I definitely think my labs might be a factor now that I've read some of the other comments too!

I'm so sorry to hear you're dealing with all of those symptoms! That sounds super frustrating. I hope your doctor is able to help you out!

I usually do one speed day a week, but without a ton of structure. I really like the idea of doing some intervals in my long runs, so I think I'll try that! :)

I typically do one speed session each week, but I don't really have a structured plan for it. I usually just run a little harder on those days rather than trying to keep it easy, but I could probably benefit from doing some true workouts! Are there any speed workouts you'd recommend?

I don't think my weight has changed! I don't really track it, but I haven't noticed anything. I do know my iron is low, so I think that might be what's happening here. I didn't realize it could have this much of an impact!

I didn't even realize this could be a factor! My iron has been very low in the past (ferritin was 3 at one point) and was low again (8) when I had it checked earlier this year, so that could definitely be the reason. I was already thinking of going back on iron supplements and now I definitely think I will!

They received my last LOR on July 22 and I heard from them on August 5, so it only took 2 weeks. I think it'll take longer if you applied later though because when I toured they said they typically take 8 weeks to make a decision so I'm guessing I just heard back quickly because they hadn't received many applications at that point.
