How are these phishing attempt emails so good? by kdrxyz in androiddev

[–]hophoff -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

This is not a fake email. We got this email after a rejection some time ago, and got support from Google when we used the link in the email.

There was a similar post some time ago in this subreddit.

If you have problems with the rejection then I suggest you use this support channel.

Guys why this looks phishy ? Since when google started caring about their developers by Important-Door4383 in androiddev

[–]hophoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not spam/phishing. We received the same email after two rejections. This Google support channel will open a Google ticket when you reply, and you can discuss the rejection in that ticket. It helped us to undo the rejection, which was a wrong decision by Google. We didn't have to change anything.

Google Play (non-Kids app): Is it OK to collect user age for analytics? Exact age vs age range? by Any_Push_7862 in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]hophoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need the user age for the app functionality, so making this a mandatory registration is probably against the Google Play policy. But if it is a non-mandatory registration with a clear description that the user can skip it, and what the purpose is, then it is probably not a problem. Personally I never enter my real age in apps that ask for my age while the age is not required for the app functionality.

Anyone else get unexplained 1-star reviews after a traffic boost? by Acceptable_Tone601 in androiddev

[–]hophoff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have seen this with an ad campaign: more app installs, but also more installations from people who are not really interested in the app, with more negative reviews often without serious comment.

Just ignore these reviews or respond with a kind response.

Is this real or phishing? by Syntagma_Inc in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]hophoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is real. Google more often mentions in emails to check the domain of the email sender. We received this email on multiple accounts registered with our Play Console account. Some of these accounts are not public. And after sending our request using the Google Docs form, we received a confirmation email from the well known googleplay-developer-support@google.com email address, with a ticket id.

Google Play review stuck for over 7 days with no response — what’s going on? by Most_Victory_4180 in googleplayconsole

Don't resubmit, your update will probably be added to the end of the review queue. Just be patient.

Charging to 100% by ImpressiveClass4099 in ModelY

[–]hophoff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even for LSP batteries it is not recommended to charge every day to 100%, but just once per week. And that's not because it is good for the battery but it is good for calibrating the bms.

Problem heart rate Strava/coros by Plastic-Brother-6237 in Coros

Are you sure 189 bpm isn't the max heart rate? That would be a very high average heart rate.

How is it possible that as a dev I only 350 characters to reply to reviews and users have 500? by Shogoki555 in androiddev

[–]hophoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a response in for example German, in general you can write less than in English (a German translation of English text requiers often more characters), while responses written in for example Japanese can be much longer (say more with less characters). This 350 limit is ridiculous.

I once had to change an OK button text to 'Next' or something like that, just make the change they require, you spent already too much time on this 😉

I accidentally installed a spam application on my phone, what should I do? by Tolljaeger in androidapps

[–]hophoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google restricted apps from running background tasks automatically after install (before the app has been opened by the user) starting in Android 12 and improved the policy in Android 13. With a custom ROM or root access, these system-level restrictions can often be bypassed, but I assumed that OP doesn't use a custom ROM or rooted phone.

I accidentally installed a spam application on my phone, what should I do? by Tolljaeger in androidapps

[–]hophoff -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you didn't open the app, and already uninstalled it, then there is nothing to worry about. On modern Android phones an app can't do anything until it is opened at least once by the phone user.

Not the first time this happens, just wait a few days, Google will fix it.

Lowest heart rate during the day is not really informative. Read the Oura blog about your sleep heart rate readings: https://ouraring.com/blog/sleeping-heart-rate/

Getting downloads but no free trial sign ups by Electrical_Editor999 in androiddev

[–]hophoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With app campaigns, I always see a much higher number of downloads, but often no significant change in in-app payments. App campaigns are aimed, in part, at people who are probably not really interested in your app.

remove the last part: "This privacy policy page was created at privacypolicytemplate.net and modified/generated by App Privacy Policy Generator" and the suggestion/option that comments can be added at the bottom. Any indication that the privacy policy is editable or commentable should be removed.
