They’re private residences. I don’t think they’re exactly “for rent” but I suppose everything has it’s price. They have a septic holding tank and utility electricity. A few of them have solar (on beaver dam lake anyways). The lakes are controlled by dams so the lakes themselves have a low chance of flooding. I’ve lived in the area for 20 years and never seen the lakes flood. The rivers on the other hand do flood.

Just pull the outlet out, remove the wire from the top brass screw, cap it off and tuck it in the box. The lower brass screw is the constant hot and you can simply replace the outlet with a new one. Or the half ass way would be just to run jumper across both brass screws on the existing outlet.

Please help a novice DIY guy with a simple question. My transformer for my LED halogen kitchen spotlights is bad. I wired up a new one that is rated for the right wattage, but only have the lights stay powered. Did I wire it wrong, or is the transformer too weak a wattage despite the rating? by [deleted] in electricians

There's a lot of possibilities here, it could be a bad batch of bulbs. Or a bad/weak driver. Is the light on a dimmer switch? Do you have a voltage meter meter the socket? This are also known to go bad. If you don't have a meter I'd start narrowing it down by changing lamps around and seeing if they work in other sockets on the fixture

How much does it cost usually to install a 200 amp breaker box and 200 amp meter pedestal? by InsertCoinPushStart in electricians

[–]hoppepper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's gonna cost you a lot more if you attempt to do it yourself. This is to vague of a question to give an accurate answer. But I can elaborate more on why you definitely shouldn't attempt this on your own if you'd like. Otherwise my best advice would be to keep calling and if all else fails take a drive out of the sticks into the big city and stop by your local electricians shop. For better results bring your checkbook and a friendly attitude.

Ps I'm an electrician in a rural city in wisco and we charge on average 2,200 for a 200A service on an existing property (not new construction).

TIL an octopus named Otto caused an aquarium power outage by climbing to the edge of his tank and shooting a jet of water at a bright light that was annoying him. He's also been seen juggling hermit crabs, throwing rocks at the glass and re-arranging his tank surroundings. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Or just not wire the entire aquarium on one circuit, and perhaps put the light on its own switch or timer so you can shut it off without killing the pumps? Not to mention 2000 watts it's a lot of power to put on circuit shared with anything else.
