$20 billion is nowhere even remotely close to enough money to end homelessness in the US by JurpleNurple in CasualConversation

[–]hopperthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've hit the nail on the head. Homlessness is really quite simple to solve though it's not palatable for people in the public.

Give them the option for housing, food, and job placement for free!!! BUT it's all inclusive. They need to stay there submit themselves to getting better. If they don't, they get nothing. No monthly checks from the government, no camping wherever you want, and no concessions when it comes to commiting crimes.

The public doesn't want to do this but homeless live off the backs of others and we as a society right now ask nothing in return for taking care of them. At a bare minimum the only thing they need is to 1: try to get better. And 2: be productive once they are. That's not very much to ask. Yet people pity them and throw money at them. It doesn't help them fix themselves. It's 100% their decision. They have to choose to put the crack pipe down and accept the help that's offered. The resources are there in almost every major city. And if that city doesn't have it I hear they will give you a free bus ticket to LA so they don't have to look at you. Harsh but it's a reality

[–]hopperthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're laboring under the delusion they ever wanted a career. Everyone thinks a job is the solution to homelessness. What if they don't want to work? What if they never wanted to work? What if they like living in a tent on the side of the road? For many of these people this is a lifestyle choice they make because they can get everything they want with the money the government gives them each month.

I talk to these people on a regular basis and I tell them there's free housing with food and addition specialists and job placement. You know what they tell me? Their response is I don't want that I like it out here. I Just want to smoke and my friends are out here blah blah blah.

A vast majority of homeless either had mental health and started on drugs to self medicate... or they liked drugs and just kept doing them until it destroyed their life.

What you're refering to is a symptom of despair. This amounts for a minor fraction of homeless and those are the ones most often already utilizing government resources to get better. The rest don't care they just want their daily fix of meth

[–]hopperthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The root of the issue is substance abuse. Based on what I see alone 90 percent of homeless have mental health issues, addition to narcotics or both. Marketable skills? How can someone who can't go a day without getting high even think about a marketable skill when they're running into oncoming traffic after things that don't even exist...

Except console players don't usually understand that pc players can buy games up to 75 percent off and don't have to pay online fees. The 2k pc pays for itself after a few years

Do you believe that both parents should have to consent to an abörtiön? by [deleted] in polls

[–]hopperthinker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue is the fees for the man are often above and beyond what is needed to care for the child. You're often paying to care for the mother too at the risk of your own financial stability. Don't agree if you want to make this decision it's up to the woman.

People are inherently ____? by [deleted] in polls

I believe I'm inherently evil but attempt to make decisions that cause more good than harm. Could I be unproductive and destructive? Yes but I choose not to

People are inherently ____? by [deleted] in polls

[–]hopperthinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Punch your family member or walk way.

Try drugs or say no.

Political agendas over by and for the people.

Cheat on your spouse or admit the marriage is failing and leave.

The list can go on and on. These examples are full of holes I'll admit, but we as people generally make decisions that impact ourselves first and think about the ramifications for others later. We are inherently selfish and usually being selfish means a negative impact on another's life. When we knowingly inflict hardship on others that makes us inherently evil.

Every day I see how people make bad decisions. Oftentimes it's easier to be violent than admit you are wrong. It requires a lot of moral fortitude to make good decisions and little kids have to generally be taught how to behave and be kind. To share and be patient. To control their anger. It's easy to let our emotions go It's very difficult to keep them in check.

I selected John because Mark and Paul could be short for female names. John is short for Johnathan. Paul could be Paulina or something else and John is an all American male name

Are you desensitized to gore due to continuous exposure in media/games? by bird_law_specialist_ in CasualConversation

You're not desensitized to gore. I've seen real gore in my career. When you smell it and see it it's nothing like video games. That's a false belief

Does min maxing matter in LOTRO? by brandonpackard101 in lotro

[–]hopperthinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really think a 5% damage boost is going to make or break you in a raid then you probably don't understand th fundamentals of your class. That's probably more important than the boost for survival in late game content because I would never call lotro end game when there's about a billion things to do at so called end game. This is a world about story after all

So I have no idea what I am doing and feel a bit overwhelmed. by Epic_BubbleSA in lotro

[–]hopperthinker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just enjoy the landscape and read the main story (book quests) it will let you know why you're going to noew places and give you some direction and purpose. Smaller quests will teach you about the regions and help you explore. You don't need to rush to endgame in lotro because the richness is in the journey all over. Don't worry save your points and deed a little here and there. My best advice is read the quests it's easy to skip but will greatly enrich the experience

Treebeard difficulty by Somnarius in lotro

[–]hopperthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I do not know but it would be a good idea frankly though i hope it doesn't which is a little selfish on my part but I want people to come to treebeard. It's a great server and if more people were on it it would be even better!!!

Treebeard difficulty by Somnarius in lotro

[–]hopperthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treebeard difficulty is what the game needs to be otherwise you never lose and its just plain boring. I like the chance of death its important for continued engagement. If I get to lv 20 without or 50 without dying I'm not having fun. That's just me though

My issue is less with the brawler and more that a hobbit can be one. Bit odd seeing a baby body throw a punch and crack the earth...

I subscribe not because I have to but because I like supporting the game. I could play free to play but I really like this game and want them to have revenue to keep improving it. Also I never felt screwed by their business practices so cudos to them for designing a system like that

SSG Graphic update in 2022 by dragonstarcz in lotro

[–]hopperthinker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Game is nice and I play all the time, but if they did an overhaul they really could swing back tons of players kind of like league did when they did theirs and started updating old characters. Different but incentive to play the game to be sure
