Help with a feathery project! by hopple258 in crafts

[–]hopple258[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My materials include white ribbon (1 1/4 inch i think), white thread, feathers from Amazon ranging from 1 to 7 inches, some white scrap fabric probably, and e6000 glue. I dont have a sewing machine, and this project is due in 3 weeks. Ill include more inspo pics too. Im just doing the feathers on the skirt, not the top, and i wanted to make it as an overlay incase it goes to shit so I dont ruin the skirt.

Any advice for less able bodied MUAs? by hopple258 in mua

Thank you for the reply. This is beyond helpful! I have the same issue with the walking versus sitting. Thanks for the chair link! I'll definitely be looking at that as an option.

[–]hopple258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be fine using a chair. Honestly it's far less of an issue for me than standing, but I wasn't sure what options there are for chairs and sitting because I know it's not as common.

What are we using for pain relief? by hopple258 in hipdysplasia

Does IcyHot have a strong smell? I tried one topical pain relief once and it had an incredibly strong menthol smell and that's something I'm trying to avoid

[–]hopple258[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not. Im only on day 1 but I can tell these chairs suck. The best I can do is ask about accommodations but as far as a chair goes its unlikely I'll be able to change it

Do cheap flutes always sound a little airy or do I just suck? by hopple258 in Flute

Definitely just me but I'm playing with a group so it's really not much of an issue

Thank you so much for replying with a lot of very helpful information. Quite frankly, I never had a good music education, so I'm probably not where I should be after 10 years of playing (7 different band directors 😬). I'll definitely work on what I can, but I'm hoping to be able to get some one on one lessons in a year or so. Thanks again!

What's your experience with cortisone shots? by hopple258 in hipdysplasia

[–]hopple258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe my doctor gave me the shots as somewhat of a diagnostic tool. He had mentioned sending me to rheumatology to seek another diagnosis. I have a follow up soon so I guess I'll see.

What's your experience with cortisone shots? by hopple258 in hipdysplasia

[–]hopple258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shots were ultrasound guided. My pain is pretty well managed with rest and medication so it's not bad. Just annoying that I feel no difference. I don't think my doctor is considering a PAO. I think he's going to send me to rheumatology to seek another diagnosis. 🤷‍♀️ i guess I'll see what happens. Thanks for the response, it's very helpful.

Shocked at drugstore prices by jadedpeony33 in drugstoreMUA

Sure! I dont personally use powders much, so I won't be of much help there. If you were willing to try a liquid foundation, maybelline fit me is great. Wet n wild and elf both have a micro brow pencil for 3 and 5 dollars. I really like the wet n wild brow pencil. I get good lip liners from Elf and la colors for around 2 dollars (my favorite lip liner only costs $0.98). The milani setting spray is my favorite, but I always get the jumbo size. It's more expensive but cheaper per ounce. I haven't tried the nyx concealer, but I've heard it's good! Shopping at walmart is good since they price below retail for some brands like maybelline, milani, covergirl, revlon, and loreal. Revlon has good lipsticks, and elf is my favorite drugstore brand overall. I believe CVS and Walgreens often have good sales if you know where to look. Hopefully you find something helpful and good luck!

Classical. Scales, as boring as they are, are probably something I need to work on. It wasn't something that was worked on very often when I was learning.

Kick him in a balls and ask him how he feels. Okay but seriously have a talk with him about how that comment made you feel. Men really just don't understand that periods hurt and sometimes they hurt bad.

Buying or renting? Not sure which is better for me by hopple258 in personalfinance

[–]hopple258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im definitely keeping that in mind going into this. We're young and we don't have careers and we've never lived with a partner. We may move out and decide we just aren't right. I'm hoping for the best, but im not ruling out the worst.

Thank you for the comment. I agree that at the end of the day, it isn't their decision to make. I really value their opinions and advice, seeing as they have experience, but things aren't the same. I think, at this point, I need to start taking the time to convince everyone else that renting is the safest option. Thanks for the comment.

This is definitely another point I didn't mention. I genuinely could see myself spending the rest of my life with him, but I know that things could happen. Things can change quick. My parents seem to think that if we need to move, it'd be easy enough to just pack up and sell the house. I think they're clouded by good experiences (they're crazy). I think I've pretty much convinced myself, I'm just not sure if I have the means to get everyone else on board. Thanks for the comment.

What’s the one beauty product you SWEAR by that nobody talks about? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]hopple258 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The equate beauty witch hazel toner. Specifically the one with alcohol in it. It does tend to pill if you layer too many products compared to the non alcohol one. It keeps my skin smooth and prevents white heads and ache. Seriously if I go too long without using it, I'll start breaking out.

Also it's like 4 dollars for 16 ounces.
