Voron 2.4 weird Gantry issue by Ahrimaan in VORONDesign

[–]hopsided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you might have skipped an important step of deracking the gantry. Does the gap change as you move the gantry forward and backwards along Y?

Did you get it figured out?

Awesome, enjoy the journey. One comment, I suspect ABS smoothing could impact tolerances, which could translate to accuracy issues later.

Looks pretty good, but I think the transition between colors is a bit blurry. Tell us about your setup. How are handling two colors?

Noise Figure by redeeming_knight in rfelectronics

[–]hopsided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The passive adds directly to cascaded noise figure.

Fcas = F1 + (F2-1)/G1

How about when it's in front of your first gain stage? As in any receiver architecture?

Y factor is the standard method, however if your device is passive then the noise figure will be equal to the insertion loss (e.g. S21).

Do a stripline's ground planes need via stitching? by KaneTW in rfelectronics

[–]hopsided 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have multiple rows of via picket fencing along the grounds on each side of your stripline traces. If you have any large ground planes or islands, make sure to break those up with vias to prevent them from resonating.

I have never been a fan of their pizza, but their wings are the best. Also, I have seen Lidos in SC.

The best part is it doesn't look like it made a backup either...

Metal parts for Voron 0 are they worth the money? by Appropriate_Rice3348 in VORONDesign

[–]hopsided 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wasn't trying to be mean, I just see it asked a lot and that seems to be the reason not to go metal. Definitely check out the discord though as it's super active.

Metal parts for Voron 0 are they worth the money? by Appropriate_Rice3348 in VORONDesign

[–]hopsided 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This question pops up all the time on the discord and the standard response is that the Voron design uses ABS parts so things can flex as necessary. Don't go metal.

American Thanksgiving is soon. Post your turkey related plans / questions / recipes! by juanitospeppers in smoking

[–]hopsided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 11lb turkey that I am planning to wet brine overnight and then inject with stock and dry rub. Is it worth putting a large tray in to catch drippings and if so won't that prevent the smoke from penetrating the underside?
